NOt a great game, but not a bad one so far. First one I've had on so far this World Cup. I missed last night's game with Brazil. Heard it was dramatic. That is was. Well worth the time to watch it.
I couldn't even have it on in the background. I'm trying to finish my book and need to concentrate.
Ooooooo.... now you have my interest. What's the subject?
The query tuning book. Rewriting it for 2014. We completely restructured the book, added a ton of chapters, it's going to be all new for 2014.
I'm on the last two chapters for the first draft and I only have five chapters to get through a tech review (Joe Sack is killing me, again, which is awesome), then it's just copy edits. I should be completely done within 2-3 weeks.

What, you don't want to put random football commentary into the book?
From Grant's latest draft:
In other words, the optimizer figures out how best to implement the request represented
by the T-SQL query you submitted. It decides if it can access the data through indexes,
what types of joins to use and much more. The decisions made by the optimizer are based
on GOOOOOOOOAAAALLL!!! <airplane run> <shirt off> <knee slide> <dogpile> what it calculates to be the cost of a given execution plan, in terms of the required
CPU processing and I/O. Hence, this is a cost-based plan.
Ha! More like:
This creates a durable table in the memory of the system using the disk space we defined to retain a durable copy of the data ensuring that we wouldn’t lose data in the event of a power loss. It has a primary key that is an IDENTITY value NO WAY WAS THAT OFFSIDES! ARE YOU BLIND! just like with a regular SQL Server table (although, to use IDENTITY instead of SEQUENCE, you will be surrendering the capability to set the definition to anything except (1,1) in this version of SQL Server). But, the index definition is not clustered. Instead it’s NON-CLUSTERED HASH. We’ll talk about indexing in the next section.

I hope I don't have to avoid SSC for the next month so I don't hear scores before I am able to watch the games on my DVR. :w00t:

I went to a Mexican place for lunch knowing full well they would have the game on in every corner. Saw it from about the 25 minute mark until about 80 or so.

hehe soccer isn't really a season per se. Especially those of us in the U.S. We have MLS in the summer and all the other leagues in the winter. I play year round myself so for me soccer "season" doesn't end until I quit playing. 🙂

Mexico has 2 soccer seasons that last for about 5 months each. Between each season we have international tournaments (including World Cup) and European leagues. Soccer won't stop in here but I'm not interested most of the time.

I miss getting out on the pitch with the kids. It actually helps keep me feeling young.

You should get out and play. That will really help you feel young. I imagine at this point you mostly miss seeing grass.
