Thought process of last 10 minutes.- Tune a proc quick, then go home
- Wait, it's got user defined functions
- Wait, the UDFs have cursors
- I'm going home!
There's a great decision.
Yeah, really. It's Friday at 11:30 EST, so I think that sounds like a good idea.
Can I go home too?
Please?

And World Cup coverage starts up today in about 11 minutes. Would so much prefer sitting a tavern somewhere with a cold beer watching the games instead of sitting at my desk working.

I won't tell anyone you are not at your desk. 😛 I imagine that most of the country is glued to the television right now.

I'm very busy working right now. Didn't just see that corner kick by Cameroon. Nope. Working on an article for Red Gate. That's what I'm doing.

I just literally rolled out of bed. 🙂 I love this contract.
Good game today though?

I hope I don't have to avoid SSC for the next month so I don't hear scores before I am able to watch the games on my DVR. :w00t:

NOt a great game, but not a bad one so far. First one I've had on so far this World Cup. I missed last night's game with Brazil. Heard it was dramatic.

I couldn't even have it on in the background. I'm trying to finish my book and need to concentrate.

What, you don't want to put random football commentary into the book?

My wife pretty much hates June/early July every 4 years. I told her it is much easier than it used to be. I haven't watched every single game since we got married, only around 20-25 of the games. 😉

From Grant's latest draft:
In other words, the optimizer figures out how best to implement the request represented
by the T-SQL query you submitted. It decides if it can access the data through indexes,
what types of joins to use and much more. The decisions made by the optimizer are based
on GOOOOOOOOAAAALLL!!! <airplane run> <shirt off> <knee slide> <dogpile> what it calculates to be the cost of a given execution plan, in terms of the required
CPU processing and I/O. Hence, this is a cost-based plan.
