It is. I was going to suggest you take the coast road but we don't really have a joined-up one of those.
Or maybe head across the Severn Bridge and down to northern Cornwall? Coast roads, rocky coastline, tiny villages...
Lovely stuff. The GF and I hired a cottage 3 miles inland from Port Isaac a couple of years ago, it made a good base for a fair stretch of the north Cornwall coast.

Gail,
Don't know much about North Wales, but Chester which is on the border is very nice, more north than Telford.
South Wales has Brecon Beacons Nation Park - which is very nice, Cardiff has a good castle, and the bay area od Cardiff is worth visiting.
Didn't you do Stonehenge last time you were in the UK? I had a half day tour of Bath last week courtesy of a fellow
SQL Bits alumni. Only person I know to have been to all of them - er I said that last week didn't I? Anyway, Bath is worthy of a visit if you haven't been before. Roman Baths etc.
I'm going to Colwyn Bay, Coast - North Wales, mid May So I can let you know about that.

Lichfield & its cathedral are about 30 minutes eastwards.

I see this is going to require some careful planning...

I grew up there. I'm sure the cathedral's smaller than it used to be! π

I am. Might be slightly longer in real time as I might interrupt for a few events.

I have started on a new one today - Xbox Customer Support BI. Sucking data from the MSFT Customer Support databases, filtering out just the Xbox related ones, and pushing it through the usual stack of staging, mart and cubes.
This will keep me busy for a year, I think.

It's tragic how little remains of the castle. A few more years and there will be nothing left. Oh well, at least there's a lovely big house nearby. Built of stone. Very Scottish π
