    Yay - I'm finally insane!!! :hehe::w00t:

Congratulations, Jason, on your new-found insanity. What happens when you add the insanity to the pain in your signature? In pain and insane? πŸ˜‰

  • And here I thought you were already insane, Jason.

    Congrats

Ask me again in five minutes and I might have already forgotten, you know how that insanity thing works:-D

    Thanks Steve

  • haha, you are out of control πŸ™‚

  • My kid is studying GIS and starting to learn SQL. He actually had some good questions last night about how to translate some questions into SQL. Neat to see him learning.

    Hearty congratulations on this accomplishment!

I'm struggling to get to 4000 posts because of all the inane questions being asked lately. πŸ˜›

My mantra: No loops! No CURSORs! No RBAR! Hoo-uh![/I]

My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?

    My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.

Need to UNPIVOT? Why not CROSS APPLY VALUES instead?[/url]
Since random numbers are too important to be left to chance, let's generate some![/url]

Thank you sir! I like to think I get in a good one or two every now and then. So far I think I've only gotten like one or two of those "this solved my problem" clicks though.

    Always looking to contribute more.

Nice to see people getting into the GIS field πŸ™‚ I hope he enjoys it as much as I have over the years.

    Very cool! Congratulations!

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

Most of those points were insanely well earned, congratulations Jason.

Koen just say you are a Holistic SQL Server Consultant - you'll be fine then πŸ˜€

    Rodders...

Just wondering if a holistic consultant does spinal adjustments??

Jason, not sure about that but you can defiantly claim lying on a beach in the Bahamas as work related

    Rodders...

Dude, that's just another day at the office.

Wait, that was St. Thomas not the Bahamas:-D

Warm... Beach... Drink... Working terribly hard.... What's the difference?

    Ok - fair point.

To keep the Douglas Adams references going...

Grant - Arh I see Redgate have finally got the beach into the office on the 15th floor πŸ™‚
