I totally agree about the questions getting worse, but you have to understand this much...the more basic questions that are answered the more it could possibly help someone down the line with the same question or concern. Isn't that why most of us are here for anyway? to help others answer their sql server related questions. Some individuals are lets say MS Office experts that are told "hey you have to learn SQL Server 2008 yesterday". In that case they would panic and post an easy question to a site like this because they know that people on these forums are helpful and knowledgeable about SQL Server and surrounding topics

Welcome to page 2150 🙂
It's not necessarily the easy questions that we moan about. It's the ones with no thought or no research or the ones that are unreadable or unanswerable (I have a slow query, how do I make it fast?) that tend to grate, especially the hundredth time.

Koen just say you are a Holistic SQL Server Consultant - you'll be fine then 😀
Rodders...
Just wondering if a holistic consultant does spinal adjustments??
Jason, not sure about that but you can defiantly claim lying on a beach in the Bahamas as work related

...from the same person. Those are the particularly grating ones.:hehe:

I must try that (maybe Mauritius, it's closer). Wonder if they'll fall for it. 😀
Wonder if my team lead reads this. I know he follows me on twitter (which means I can't gripe about management there any longer)

Gail, I couldn't agree more. My favorite ones are the "Here's some SQL. What's wrong with it?" questions where we don't know anything about the table.
It isn't the simple questions that irk me...it's the unanswerable ones. People are usually pretty good about posting DDL and data when prompted, but some try to argue because they don't think it's even needed.

It's been 20 yrs since I was last to Mauritius. I really need to get back there. Claiming business sounds like a perfect means to an end.

And then complain when your Crystal Ball creates a sample that doesn't match what they really want.

You just have to love the ones like "Will this code run?". I'm sure SSMS will execute the code faster than the forum will.
