There seems to be a new feature in the forums to mark answers that worked for the OP.What do you think about this? I'm not sure if it's only possible to mark one answer or multiple answers. This seems to be common practice in other forums as I've been asked in the past about this feature.
Haven't seen it yet. Can you only do this if you started the topic? (and if yes, who is ever going to mark this thread as answered???)
I think it is a nice feature. I just hope we don't get parrots like in the MSDn forums who are just hoping to get their post marked as the answer.
I'd have to ask more questions myself in order to use this new feature more.
In all of my time on this site, I think I asked less than 10 questions.
I am right there with you. I just created that test question, it might be my 3rd or 4th all time. 😛

Not sure if this is new functionality or that I just see this for the first time, but at the bottom of every reply there is a green button with "ON" telling if that person is currently online?
Was this already here or was I just blind the whole time?

That has been there for a long time. Other people have some extra buttons there too (linked in, etc...)

Now that an answer or post can be marked as useful and accurate by the OP, I hope that it catches on and people start using it more. I have seen only one thread today with an answer accepted. Here is one...and it even has two posts marked. 🙂

Interesting, indeed. What "works for the OP" could be the worst post on any given thread (and I'm not referring to the post link above). I hope that people that are actually looking for a good answer don't quit looking just because they see a "Green" answer.
This might better if it was a public "Consensus" rather than what the OP thought. After all, the OP theoretically didn't know squat about the problem to begin with or they wouldn't have posted a question.

I can see both sides to that discussion, Jeff. The other one is when a thread derails horrendously on best practice dispute when all the person wanted to know was a way (ANY way) to find the third item in a comma delimited list.
That happens a lot around here. "Look, I get that the entire table structure is a piece of crap. Can someone please simply tell me how to get the IN string to behave in this query?"
I'm just as guilty, but I can see both sides.

I've got a note coming on it Monday. It's somewhat of a soft launch today.
The OP (and admins) can mark any post as "worked" (or unmark it)

We've debated this. Arguably, the OP is the last person that should mark something as correct.
However, this way they can give feedback that something worked. We are talking about how to best get other info from the "crowd" on posts.
