    Weather update, as Grant has discovered it gets dark here very quickly, that and the rain and wind seems to be the story of the week in not so sunny Bracknell.

    Not even in my team, so I can't have words with them.

    I've met people like that. Eventually, she should figure out that if things are quieter all around her, she should lower her own volume. If she doesn't get it, I don't see any problem with having words with her, but you can only do it as a co-worker, not as a boss. It may be that she doesn't even realize that she's loud.

    It's not that she's particularly loud in general, it's that in discussions with the other grads (they're doing a business analysis exercise today), she's talking over the others in her 'team' and increasing volume when she disagrees with one of the others.

    I'm guilty of doing it in the past. I try not to any longer. (Emphasis 'try' πŸ™‚ )

  • I like to think I've gotten better at both of these items with age. Knowing everything and talking over other people is something that many people struggle with at one point or another during their lives. With wisdom comes patience and with knowledge comes humility.

    Bassett's way nicer than Swindon and has two or three great little pubs. I can't forget what they're called, I've never left Bassett in a straight line.

    It's never got as bad as outright insults, more muttering under breath, glaring across desks and, in extreme cases, being struck off the brewing-up-for list.

    It's ironic... it they argue like that, then they don't actually know everything because they'd know how to avoid such non-productive and annoying events. πŸ˜‰ Typically, one person is a ring knocker that can't see the light of day but still "knows it all" and the other person is actually someone who's trying to stick to the facts and trying to prevent the rink knocker's ideas from propagating as an in-house "best practice". I believe Gail refers to such "best practices" as "howlers". πŸ™‚
