OK, where did the year go?I mean seriously, 12 days until X-Mas? It feels like it was only a couple weeks ago I was starting this job and planning my vacation...
I know what you mean, Jason. Christmas is almost here and my shopping isn't done. Winter is also here are we're supposed to get 3" to 6" starting tonight. Seize each day and try to make the most of it.
From the snow you're talking about, sounds like you're in my neck of the woods.
Which means tomorrow or Sunday, I get to see how my sportly little, low slung car can handle it!
Well, how did your car handle this past weekend? Were you able to get out of your driveway? And what kind of sporty little car is it?
Well, I forgot how much fun and how much terror a rear-wheel drive car can be in snow...
:hehe:
Took it out Saturday morning, before any of the roads had been cleared. Went OK on the roads, the worst of the snow was packed down or driven clear. Getting going at a stop was a slow, patient, plan well ahead process. If I gave it gas, the back end would try to slide out, so I had to let it get going first.
As for what kind of car:
It does look like a fun little car, but I do remember how rear-wheel drive cars perform and the terror they can cause in the heart of the driver when show is introduced into the equation. Given a clear parking lot, however...that's a different story. I just showed my 12-year old daughter how to spin backwards in my front-wheel drive car this past weekend. I can't help it - I just have to do it once every winter. π

I do the same thing in my minivan once a year and my wife completely looses her cool. She totally freaks out about how dangerous it is blah blah blah. She doesn't seem to care that I learned how to do it safely from my own father.

Did he teach you in a minivan? Minivans are a lot more top heavy and less stable than most cars.

LOL. There was no such thing a minivan back then, at least not by that name. We did however do donuts in my VW bus. Talk about top heavy and unstable.

Fun aside, I feel it's important to break it loose at least once a year, so that you remember what it feels like and how to control/recover from it. Saves a second of panic when it happens for real.

Finally warming up a bit here. Some areas have been getting snow by the foot, so the 8" we got last week wasn't so bad. The ice storms are the worst - I can't imagine being without lights and heat for days.
Generators. Electric Heaters.
You know, a DR plan. π
Glad you used generators instead of generator if you want to run electric heaters off generator power. I prefer a generator and a wood stove.
We got 8-12 inches of snow this weekend. As far as I'm concerned we can be done with snow for the season now, and I do mean winter although it hasn't officially started yet!
Hehe.
When I built our house, I designed it to use radiant-floor heat. Hot water is heated by an outdoor wood furnace. Gas (propane) range. Only electrical needs are some tiny pumps for moving the hot water through the floor (and from wood furnace to house), and for fridge/freezer. One generator (converted to propane) easily handles all of that. Oh, and the spark igniter for the range.
Now, if I power on all of my computer equipment...
So is that an automatic standby generator or a portable you need to hook up. I have portable that I have to hook up. It runs the stuff we need no problem (heat, fridge/freezer). I don't have that much computer equipment, but I haven't used it when the generator's been on because the internet was down too so I couldn't work anyway.

Good day Threadizens π
I have written an article (my first) on how to get help with SSRS reports.
It was inspired by Jeff's classic "Forum Etiquette: How to post data/code on a forum to get the best help" - but I am sure not that accomplished.
I was wondering if anyone of you experienced article writers would be so kind as to have a read and offer any suggestions/criticisms?
Thanks

Ditto what Koen said. If by "experienced", you mean "has written at least one article that was published for other people to read", I suppose I qualify. I'd be glad to give you feedback on both the writing and the technical aspects.

Thanks, Luis! I fixed the links in the original post, too. One of these days, I'll remember how to format the URL in the IFCode shortcuts the first time I try it. I've been doing so much work with XML attributes lately that I just reflexively quote the argument after the "=" sign.
