I know the conversation has moved on a bit, but:
I just want to say that while it may not seem like it sometimes, I do try hard to be tolerant of people - especially people posting on forums. My success rate may not be that brilliant, but I do really try to see things from the OP's point of view, and try to assume they are reasonable, intelligent people who are simply not that great at expressing themselves sometimes.
Nevertheless.
The PhD candidate is an idiot of the very highest order.

From everything I've heard, I'm guessing that his Master's degree was done by coursework, not by dissertation. Odd thing is, I can't find any reference to a degree that has the abbreviation "MSA" which is what he has in his sig.Maybe need to search more.
Masters of Science of Accounting:

Also found references for Masters of Science of Administration
Sorry, should have included "CS-related degree from an Indian university", as out friend has indicated that he got the degree in India.
Guess I wasn't explicit enough. I was trying to point out that, with his "l33t comptuer skillz", it would make sense if he was using an account credential, or just about anything else.

Hey Flo,
I hope you know that I would have offered to read it too - but I have had very little time this week to check the threads here.
I'm sure it'll be great - even though it spoils it bit knowing the ending

As for how he keeps his job, there are two obvious possibilities: 1) Civil Service, and 2) Nepotism. These two work pretty much the same, to one degree or another, in almost every country.Lynn Pettis (5/7/2009)
The really sad part, he is probably working on an off-shore project for some sap company here in the US that thinks they have someone with a Masters degree working on their project. And someone here in the US with a real Masters degree can't find a job because of the off-shoring of work.Last I heard, he was working for an IT consultancy in the UK, having moved there from India.

Actually, I think that it's an M.C.A. It seems possible that our friend could have gotten through such a program, especially if it's correspondence or the test's were mostly multiple choice (which make's braindump-like "aids" possible). But any kind of "show your work" type tests seem right out to me.

Maybe something to clarify
I'm not doubtful or afraid ;-). There have been some threads where I wrote "sorry" or "apologize" or "my mistake". I noticed whenever I write one of those words somebody replies to build me up.
I just want to say (write) that I noticed something was wrong in one of my previous posts, nothing more. This doesn't imply that I'm on my way to take the rood and punish myself. So sorry for this misunderstanding
At the moment I remember just one post where I really thought I have to apologize (once in the string split thread).

But it is so nice to see that there are people who are interested in me... 😀
Congrats on reaching Ten Centuries BTW!
Thanks! I'm feelin' sooo important and experienced now...
The trick is simple: Stay in this thread and open a second one with RBAR solution
As I see you are close on my heels. Stay busy as a bee to become an SQL Server expert like me.

That's not a bad idea.
Maybe I will start a thread to show how CLR solutions are best for concatenating strings...!

I learned much more about SQL Server in the last few month than in the last three years.
I have to agree. And it all due to people like Gina, Jeff, Steve, Barry, Lynn, Gus, Paul, Roy, and oh so many others that selflessly use up their time to help others learn the best ways to do things in SQL.
What is great is when we can learn, and then ourselves help others. Personally, I find that helping others help reinforce the things that I have learned.
THANKS to all of you'll.:Wow:

I ascribe it to a high-fibre diet and drinking plenty of water.
Seriously, thanks. But speaking for myself, I don't do this entirely altruistically - I get a lot out of doing it too, so I tend not to major on how heroic I am giving up my free time - it's my choice after all, and I'm basically quite selfish 🙂
