Are the posted questions getting worse?

I actually had a recruiter contact me about a contract in NYC with a title of Data Architect that they wanted to pay 45/hr for.

That's actually lower than my hourly rate was, and I live in a 3rd world country with an exchange rate sitting around 10:1 to the USD...

Exactly my point. Some people are totally out of touch with what it takes to get good people in. I tend not to ask anyone their rate because it isn't any of my business unless I am hiring them, but I've been around where that conversation happens and I know no one who could accurately call themselves a Data Architect would accept anywhere near that. I suppose if the client was willing to cover all expenses, put you up in a 5 star hotel with your family, and get you tickets to anything you wanted in while in NYC you might consider it, but even then I doubt it.

It's weird and creepy, but the more they pay you, the more they will listen to what you have to say. If they're paying $45/hr, you have zero voice. If they're paying $300/hr and up, suddenly, the exact thing that the other guy was saying becomes pearls of wisdom. It's weird, but I've seen it in action at my last company.

I love the penis enlargement ads... they're written proof that I don't have anything to worry about. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry Jeff - the best one I ever got was :-

    Dear Mr Davies,

    Do you want bigger breasts?. . . . .

Not only in email, but twitter, forums, and if you have a blog...

Akismet catches most of the spam like that for me on my blog, but some get through.

It's always accompanied by somebody from Nike trying to sell cheap Louis Vuitton handbags.:hehe:

Speaking of "unbelievable", is THIS all that a Master's degree + the ability to walk on water is worth nowadays?

But they have phone reimbursement. ;>)

Oh, that must mean they expect to call a lot at all hours too.

    Don't forget the corporate discounts.

    ๐Ÿ˜‰

Masters degree DQs me if I were to be interested.

I now know why people hire wedding planners. Wow, this is a lot of work.

Another reason I love my wife. We invited about 20 friends & family, bought several bottles of vodka, and we were done. It was awesome.

We hired a boat, had a 45 person limit. Time boxed to the 3 hour cruise as well. It was a great time.

Stand up in the middle as if to make an announcement and commence the "fun"?

Nope. But have something in mind.

Panel cage match? Archery wars with the men that come?

Everyone had a great time, I just wish it had gone on longer.

So, just saw a story that indicates Tom Clancy may have passed away.

I quite enjoyed Red Storm Rising and Hunt for Red October. Sum of All Fears was OK, never did get into any of the other books.

A few after that are interesting. They go more into his son becoming involved with US national security. Enjoyable reads, but not nearly as exciting at Red Storm Rising, HfRO, and the early ones. Red Rabbit was interesting because that's how many people in the US saw the time. Not sure it would translate now.

Yeah, that's just wrong. But it is true. Same goes with Lawyers. The more money one pays, the more they are willing to listen -- quickly.

There are some who are obstinate and it takes them more "time" to figure it out.

And in thinking about it, it makes sense to me. If you are confident enough to charge that kind of fee, you either know what you are doing from experience or you are a crazy nit.

While in Minnesota, we are thankful for a last second missed horse collar penalty allowing a win, and a bye week so we couldn't lose.

And yet another quarterback into the mix, just to stir things up a bit more.

500 passing yards? I think we might be able to top that, but that Win thing has me shaking my head.

We just celebrated our 18th anniversary. That combined with the boat/cruise you just talked about, and I am thinking it would be a great way to spend #19 or #20.

Not a Broncos fan. But I am hoping to see that offense score big every week. 700pts in a season seems doable for them.

Only a software developer would refer to a wedding ceremony or an anniversary as "time-boxed", but I don't recommend describe it that way to one's spouse!
