Are the posted questions getting worse?

Man, I better get back to answering questions, I'm #11 all-time in points now and Koen is bearing down on me:w00t:

Aw fudge. I was hoping you wouldn't notice it.

    My ninja tactics have failed...

ps: the only reason I've been so active last weeks is because Sean is on hot pursuit of me πŸ˜‰ :hehe:

hehe I just kind of got in the habit of it over the last year or so and then all of a sudden I was moving up the list. Seems that most of the really "heavy hitters" have not been answering as much either so people like me can come grab the low hanging fruit. πŸ˜€

I'm no low hanging fruit dammit πŸ˜€ I won't give up without a fight! 😎

Seriously now, the "top 10" has been quiet the last few months (with the exception of Gail and Jeff of course). I had a super busy first half of the year, so I didn't have the time to answer questions unfortunately. (I even had my Microsoft Community Contributor status on MSDN revoked. Sniff. Not that I lost any sleep over it).

But it seems a lot of us have it real busy lately.

    bwahahahaha!!!

I didn't mean you were low hanging fruit. In fact, I don't think I have ever grabbed you. πŸ˜› I was referring to the fact that since the top 10 aren't posting I can come along and toss my crappy responses at them instead. Good for me...but maybe not so good for SSC's reputation as a place to get quality responses.

In English you would be sitting in front of or maybe at your computer. Sitting behind it would put you on the dusty side with all the cords. 😎

Do you mean that we're destroying this site reputation? I'll better continue quiet.:-D

  • Speaking of fruit. The missus and I are getting a new kitchen in and are trying to finalise a few issues.

We were thinking of getting a stone benchtop, but depending on the stone you may need to oil it, or it can suffer from thermal shock. Has anyone had any bad experiences with stone benchtops?

My mantra: No loops! No CURSORs! No RBAR! Hoo-uh![/I]

My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?

    My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.

That's why ChrisM@Home has been so quiet this year πŸ˜‰

Fal, we went with quartz worktop. It looks and sounds like natural stone and costs about the same (it's templated and cut the same way) but it's impermeable, acid-resistant and tougher. Natural stone is gorgeous but I wouldn't recommend it for a busy family kitchen unless you're prepared to put in a fair amount of time and effort looking after it and can accept the scratches when they appear.
