Actually it wasn't that cold. This Fridays' podcast was shot then, in a T-shirt, outside. I was a little cold, but not unbearably.

Hey Lynn:
He probably learned about SSC early in his academic career, maybe even got hired with the help of SSC, and may get his Ph.D. with SSC assistance as well. π
Next time you go for a walk in the desert, look behind you. He may even be following in your footsteps. π

You always have the option to avert your eyes and let others assist him.
They might give him bad advice though.
He might even take it.
BTW, if I ever get to meet you and/or Barry, I will be crushed if you don't sound like your avatars.

I haven't analyze any data to validate my answer, but I feel that the answer to the original question: "Are the posted questions getting worse?" is:
YES!

Why shouldn't he put quotes around 'NULL', Alvin?
'NULL' is a perfectly good word. Isn't it?
BTW, I was also crushed when you didn't sound like your avatar. It would have made the MemPass meetings much more entertaining.

sorry, crushed you will be.
I don't know. I met Barry at the PASS Summit last year. He sounded a bit like Darth... an avuncular friendly Darth, but Darth none the less.

Alvin,
I have to confirm Bob. Because I am more a C#y than a VBly I would say "null" is always better than "Nothing"
BTW: In contrast to Bob I really hope that all you (maybe especially Alvin) don't sound like your avatars!

Maybe I have the volume on my speakers turned down to far, but I haven't noticed anyone's avatars making any noises at all... (cuz I'm a blonde, yeah yeah yeah!) π

If you put quotes around Null then you get the 4 letter word null, not the SQL NULL that means there's nothing there.

The last thing we need is avatar that speak!!!
Bob was referring to meeting me at the Memphis PASS chapter meeting.
I guess I may have to practice my chipmunk imitation.

Flo: I was being a trifle ironic, maybe even a touch sarcastic. π
Although, I am sorry to say, I have at times written queries containing the following:
WHERE someColumn is NULL or someColumn = 'NULL'
Don't ask why we couldn't just do a global update to make all the 'NULL's into NULLs. Thankfully, I have yet to see a column named [NULL].
