Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • Where I work, we're going to get double-whammied next week I think...

    People have taken next week off, plus (being govm't) we've got people starting their mandatory furloughs because of sequestration...

    Except those of us who aren't govm't...

    We still work 5 days a week...

    This is standard practice in the US - the week of July 4 and the week of Christmas are typically no production.

    In the automotive industry you mean?

    --------------------------------------
    When you encounter a problem, if the solution isn't readily evident go back to the start and check your assumptions.

  • This is my first year in the automotive industry. I must say that for the most part, I don't like being forced to take my vacation at specfic times...except for when those specific times arrive and I don't have to work!

    I did have one optional week of vacation time that I used already - so really not a bad deal at all. The "Christmas Week" shutdown will really be longer than a week - Dec 21 through Jan 1. It's a welcome break that I have never had in other industries.

  • At IND wait for my flight.

    Any way, thanks for the well wishes and hopefully I will be back in the next few days.

    Eyes open, a$$ down. Good luck, let us know how things are in the desert.

    I'd agree. This has happened in the tech industry a few times, and to my wife. Not thrilled, but we made do.

    Just so the rest of you can feel jealous, I got a hug from Gail and a handshake from Rodney last week ๐Ÿ™‚

    I can't top that recently but I still have the piece of rebar that Rodney presented to me back in 2011.

    Steve - you only got a handshake because of the desk you were sitting behind! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Hope SQL in The City went well. I hear the last seassion with Gail, Grant and yourself was the highlight.

    Jeff you sure it was me? I remember having to looking up what one was as it was slightly lost in translation. Actually you came up in conversation at the Southampton Relay event. One of the speakers mentioned Numbers table, and pointed a couple of folks to your article here on SSC!

    Cheers,

    Rodders...

    Sorry. Different Rodney.

    Thanks for the referral on the Tally Table article. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I've lost count of how many poeple I've pointed to that article.

    Was it Mr Landrum by any chance?

    I was a substitute Rodney for Karla at SQL Bits, when she was having her photo taken! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Rodders...

  • You know, reading the end result of this topic: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1468850-2799-1.aspx, I'm wondering why MS doesn't provide a pair of radio buttons in several different places...

    Radio button 1 -> MB

    Radio button 2 -> GB

    I could understand it if servers with a couple hundred MB were still the norm, but now-a-days being able to get servers with a few hundred GB...

    Where would I put these buttons?

    The memory settings, and when setting the size of files for MDF / LDF / NDFs, at least.

    I think the OP doesn't know enough to know they aren't answering your questions.
