http://xkcd.com/1166/They have no idea what a never-ending thread really is...
Heh. Another forum I'm on (game related) had a "never ending thread" that got up into the 10s' of thousands of posts. Which then started crashing the forum software, in part because they also allowed people to attach images...
Now, you want a topic that would *really* generate some responses, start a Star Trek vs Star Wars topic, or go into an RPG forum and start discussing the merits of one edition of game rules vs another edition of the same (Say AD&D v2 vs AD&D v4)
😀
FYI, we have strained this software at times. In talking to the vendor, we are by far their largest customer, and this was a very popular forum software when we had it. We are thinking of writing our own since there isn't much that can handle this scale.

So, on a big day for me, where I need to go about 10-15 miles for a certification exam, then back the same to meet with some people, then another couple miles to visit the local PD for a fingerprinting, the weather decides to drop about 2" of snow on us...
What fun...

Jeff Moden (1/30/2013)Detroit? Do you attend the local PASS meetings? Do I know you and am just missing the connection?
I've not (yet) attended any of the local UGs, although I've been planning to.
I am planning to attend the SQL Saturday in March over at LTU though.
My first SQL Saturday!
You know, it's also amusing, you're the second person to ask me if I've attended UGs in the area recently!
Jason
I'll definitely be at that SQL Saturday. Look for the white haired/bearded ol' fart with the Santa-look-alike belly and wire rim glasses and the booming voice!

Oddly enough, that captcha came up when I was doing something at one of my writer association sites.On that point, do you have any sites/apps that you can get a writing practice topic or starting scene or similar each day? I had a site a while back, but it disappeared.
and I thought that was the Today's Random Word thread...
I did!But i used the barcode reader for .net.
Here is the sample code:
using BusinessRefinery.Barcodes.Reader;
// Read a Code 39 barcodes image in C# class
string[] barcodes = BarCodeReader.scanBarCode
(bmp,BusinessRefinery.Barcodes.Reader.BarCodeType.CODE39);
// Read Data Matrix barcodes in C# class
string[] barcodes = BarCodeReader.scanBarCode
(bmp,BusinessRefinery.Barcodes.Reader.BarCodeType.DATAMATRIX);
Feel free to try!

Anyway, a hilarious blog post on how to create a file with SQL Server:
Umm....No...that is not how you export a table into a file with SQL Server

Made it look as though I did, although pretty sure I didn't. Wierd thing is, I was just talking about using barcode scanners here at work. They must be monitoring me...

I got really freaked out when I got my first Android phone and Google started suggesting searches I had run on my work computer. I couldn't figure out how Google knew it was me on both the computer and the phone, then I remembered - Google account. Duh! >_<
