Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • The wife and I considered trying to get to a 'con this year after our vacation to Jamaica, if the money panned out. Then I checked, and all three of the hotels the con is at are booked up. Well, I don't feel like either walking 4-5 blocks from the next nearest hotel, or waiting for the shuttle, so we're thinking of going next year...

The con is perhaps one of the more infamous cons...

    Dragon-Con...

Any con that has had to pass a rule for the costume contest of "no costume is NO costume," and a panel(?) / party(?) / show(?) where the men wear kilts and the presenter is armed with a leaf-blower...

Yeah, that sounds like a rather fun place...

    😀

I believe the presenter with the leaf blower is a web-comic writer/artist who does the comic The Devils Panties.

You mean this strip: thedevilspanties.com (Tagline: It's not Satanic porn!)

Yeah, I found her strip a few years ago, and have been reading it regularly. That's actually how I found out about the leafblower / kilt thing...

  • Anyone in the Charlotte, NC area with an electric leaf blower (preferably battery powered!) that I can borrow for next year's PASS Summit? :w00t::crazy:

GenCon actually has a housing bureau for the convention. I think I heard that Dragon*Con was going to so something similar at some point. Really, they should. It would make life so much easier for everyone involved.

Yeah, I've been to GenCon 2-3 times while it was still in Milwaukee, the first time either I goofed or they did, I never got confirmation on housing, the other times I did. So nice.

I think with Dragon*Con, the hotels open up for registration in October, and I suspect the host hotels booked solid by the end of the day...

Nope - I thought all News Outlets had been knocked out.

MS announced that SQL Server 2012R2 will be released in late 2014 and will officially support both DBCC TIMEWARP and a new trace flag that will automatically apply the NOLOCK hint to all queries so developers no longer need to hard-code it into their queries to make them run faster.

I got the potential new job nerves!!!

    Kinda wish I was home!

Yeah, I've applied with a company, and at this point, the only thing that could stop me getting the position, is not getting clearance from the govt...

Oh, I hope they don't find out about that trip to Iraq...

Wait, that was my brother with the USMC.

    What about.

    Nope, didn't do that either.

    Trips to...

No, Canada isn't exactly a hotbed of terrorism.

    Crap.

Maybe I'm TOO squeaky clean, and they'll get suspicious because of that...
