Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • Hmm. That blunted the intended impact somewhat :doze:

Fixed now - I must not put underline tags inside the url tags it seems!

Thanks everyone for letting me know.

... I would have had him two feet off the ground, grasping at his own throat.

...as you sardonically tell him "I find your lack of respect for forum etiquette disturbing."

Heh, good line, John. I might use it in the future... 🙂

And thanks to all for the "Welcome Backs", just trying to take it easy for now.

Saw that yesterday and figured Steve had sorted it. He's a braver man than I.

    Seems I underestimated the OP.

I don't think this one's carrying a squeegee. I got the impression from his syntax and use of "Ja..." that perhaps English is not his first language. Yes, Steve gave code samples, but the guy just (mis)read the post. I posted a reiteration of the advice and we'll see whether he comes back with an "oops. Now I get it".

  • John,

Good point - I feel as though I was harsh now.

However, I suspect that expecting behaviour to change simply by deleting a comment is the same in any language 😉

  • Gail - can you give a good answer to this? I kinda thought along these line also.

Gail - can you give a good answer to this?

Offhand, no, but I suspect it has something to do with Statement level recompile and/or temp table caching. I wonder if he'd see the same behaviour if two different connections were running the proc alternately.

I am reaching that magic figure of 1000. But that does not mean I know anything. But I try to learn from reading the solutions to different problems others have posted. I do not have that much knowledge to help others, but I try to learn from the Gurus here. 🙂

And when ever I post an answer I say that this is what comes to my mind. But maybe others here have a better solution than mine.

And that, Roy, is what most of us do. The answers we post are the ones that come to our mind as well. The beauty of this site is that we get to see a variety of ways to accomplish the same task. Some are better than others, that's true. But you also hit the nail on the head when you say you try to learn from Gurus here; so do I. I have learned more here on SSC than I have from just doing my job. Everything I have learned I have also been able to apply in some way as well.

Edit: How does it go? The more I know, the more I know I don't know.

I think both of you'll are dead-on here. especially

I have learned more here on SSC than I have from just doing my job.

Its not a secret...Lots of people have written about it in different sites. I have tried my best. Hope it is good. It is about Transparent Data Encryption.

Sounds pretty interesting. Always looking for things that others have tried that I haven't (yet).

I think Gail nailed it. I sure hope so since I posted that as a possible answer before I saw what she thought.

  • Hi John

I'm quiet sure that English is not her/his first language (due to the "Ja" I think he is German) but this is not the problem. I would never finger point at somebody because of bad English.

If I post a 200 line question to an international forum and I get a four line answer (two lines text) which I don't understand I have to investigate what was meant. I'm also German and I know that my English is not the best so LEO is always one of the tabs in Firefox when I'm here.
