And then you get this:
Shadab Shah (12/23/2012)
I create a table asCREATE TABLE DEMO (A INT)
Then i deleted it as follow
DELETE DEMO
I tried to again recreate the table using the same above statement, But it gave me the following error message
Msg 2714, Level 16, State 6, Line 1
There is already an object named 'DEMO' in the database.
Now over here i am trying to understand when i deleted the table using delete how is it showing me the error message.
The answer you want to give is: Put down the mouse and step away from the keyboard.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the amount of SPAM posts on SSC seems to be growing. I even got SPAMmed on my PM just now.
Three times so far.

Rebeca must be going after only the top posters because I haven't gotten one of her love letters yet.
My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?
My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.

Anybody else not receiving the topic notifications from SSC?
Proof the world actually did try to end... and failed miserably at it since notifications started going out again. 😀

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and got what they wanted for Christmas. I ended up with cookies and a portable scanner (all good IMHO). And I went to see The Hobbit yesterday too. Not bad. Loved Sylvester McCoy's part. He did a brilliant job.

Constantly amazed by the number of people who think that full backups truncate the transaction log. Where do they get such ideas? That's a clear sign that you are over-optimistic about the average DBA's willingness to put in enough effort to understand how backups and transaction logs work.
They pull such ideas out of nonsense that they find on the web; they find the nonsense on the web because it's easier to ask google to find something dumbed down than to endure the pain or reading proper documentation.
They are to lazy to be productively lazy (which is what all competent engineers are - getting it right first time is a sign of supreme laziness combined with an awareness that it's less pain to do a task once than half a doxzen times).
so efficiently lazy vs incompetently lazy
This reminds me of the old Army proverb:
Give the hardest job to the laziest man because he finds the easiest way to do it.

Sweet awesomeness: Dr. Who Stamps
I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to send all my friends a letter from the UK, finally realized that the easiest (and cheapest) is going to be to get the stamps and just include one in addition to the regular postage (as a "decoration" rather than postage). Can't wait until March!
