Anybody out there?Yes, but I'm very busy fighting off the zombie apocalypse.
No zombies here. They probably got robbed and re-killed on their way down the continent.

In SSC Heaven, all the OPs do proper backups....And do proper restores.
And they don't restart their servers to fix data corruption issues.
And they post specific questions with suitable code to reproduce the issue.
And they don't run daily jobs to shrink their database files.
And they don't ask you to help them get jobs for which they are obviously unqualified.
And don't ask for braindumps
And they don't ask for help in defrauding the MS Partner program

Crap... we're still here. That means I don't have to do restores using the special backups I made. It also means I have to fill out my freakin' timesheet again! ๐

Timesheet? I have to go restore all those databases now that I figured we didn't need anymore:-D

Bugger. All the time dimensions in my data warehouses just went to the 21st. Now I'll have to add more years. What's the next doomsday?

Constantly amazed by the number of people who think that full backups truncate the transaction log. Where do they get such ideas?

That's a clear sign that you are over-optimistic about the average DBA's willingness to put in enough effort to understand how backups and transaction logs work.
They pull such ideas out of nonsense that they find on the web; they find the nonsense on the web because it's easier to ask google to find something dumbed down than to endure the pain or reading proper documentation.
They are to lazy to be productively lazy (which is what all competent engineers are - getting it right first time is a sign of supreme laziness combined with an awareness that it's less pain to do a task once than half a doxzen times).

so efficiently lazy vs incompetently lazy

To be honest, I can see it from their side. Since the FULL backup does have the word "FULL" in it and it DOES make a skeleton for the log file, you'd think that MS would at least give the option for it to backup and truncate the log file all in one simple step.
