Gads I *LOVE* being able to use backup compression in SQL!
Having just moved our accounting system to a new SQL server, we went from SQL 2005 Std to SQL 2008 R2 Ent. So now a backup of an 100GB DB now fits into about 1GB!
Oh happy day!

How much data? Does it take less time now?

Whoops, I completely misread the size of the DB...
It's 11Gb and backing up into 1GB.
Data space used (according to SSMS) is about 7.5GB
As for the time it takes, I'm not sure how long it was taking before, but the most recent full backup took about 2 minutes...

Sure. I got this from a place called The Internet:"This refers to how intense romantic scenes are in a story and how intense the sexual tension is between the characters."
To clarify the 0-2, this is from Sweet "Non-erotic, with non-consummated love scenes or consummated with no graphic details" to Moderate "Some adult language with clinical terms for genitalia being acceptable, but no graphic euphemisms".
Hope this helps.
Steve.
(caveat: it's quite possible that I was reading the Heat Levels for Romance writing)
Nyuk nyuk nyuk. Sadly, when I went to try to find heat levels I kept finding things like "Safe Nuclear Reactor Heat Levels". I tried more contextual searches but ended up in a wiki-walk to nowhere. Google-Fu has failed us all without the right keywords, I'm sure.

I just noticed something. Doesn't mean it's new, just means I just noticed it.
Per the standings page (http://www.sqlservercentral.com/TotalScores), I'm still listed as "SSChampion", just like everyone else with serious compulsive-addictive posting here.
But per the sidebar on the forums, I'm listed as "SSCoach".
Makes me wonder who's listed as "SSBusiness Class"... π
Edit: Okay, put a #GusFail on this one, but I'm trying to get an image to show here and obviously doing it wrong. Got the PNG attached to the post, but the image link to it isn't working from what I can see. What am I doing wrong on this?
Edit2: Changed to JPG, got it to work.

I have noticed that some point rankings give "special statuses".

There might be a few things in the points that we haven't accounted for. To be honest, we didn't dig into it much. As the site grew I added some other ones, but haven't done much to take advantage of the way it works.
It's possible that the question of the day has a bug in it when I award back points somewhere. IIRC, some of the points items are denormalized and stored in a separate table. That might be broken.

Steve, the whole point of my post was to make my (really bad) joke about, "Makes me wonder who's SSBusiness Class", as compared to me being "SSCoach". (And, yes, explaining this already bad joke makes it even worse.)
So don't worry about it. Not in the slightest.
Worry about me and my sense of humor? Sure. Worry about the rankings? Not at all.

SSCoach is a typo, isn't it? I thought it was supposed to be SScotch...

Nah. That should be for one of the kilt-wearing crew.

Yep. Saw that one. One comment I thought was hillarious, on a news board, was "So, with military budget cuts, does that mean they'll have to scale back and just give soldiers lightsabers instead?"

Budget cuts are the reason the first Death Star didn't have a grate or something covering the exhaust port.

Really? I always just assumed a Jawa stole the covering. "If it's not nailed down, it's mine. If I can pry it up, it's not nailed down." kind of thing.
