*sigh* So my book shop loyalty program gives me a free movie ticket for my birthday, valid for a week from that day. Yay, so I can go see The Hobbit which opens here next week. Then read small print. 'not valid for any movie in it's first week'.
I suppose I could watch the new James Bond instead. 🙁

Bond was good. Not great, but very good.

Rumor has it that it's actually dangerous to sit in the first 6 rows when Jessica appears. 😀

My motor is still idling from the tryptophan-coma of Thanksgiving. In my experience, the period from just before Thanksgiving through New Year's Day isn't very productive.
That's normally the time I get hammered with work. All the younger folks with kids desparately try to use up their vacation before the end of the year and managers still try to get everything they promised for the year done "on time". The folks, like me, that are left behind have to handle it all with a holiday smile.

I have taken very little vacation since starting with the company I work for now. Their policy isn't use or lose it, they pay you for the unused PTO time at the end of the year.

OK, is it just me, or do I manage to kill topics by posting in them?I posted the last response in one of the Editorials, almost the last response to the guy who was trying to load a license key into the eval edition (although there wasn't too much left to post after that)...
Or am I being paranoid?

Yes. You are being paranoid. But, don't be afraid; we're here to help. Just remain at your current location for another few minutes and trained personnel will be there for you.

Ah, I've usually worked for small groups and haven't usually had things due in this period. Either everyone else in the company doesn't want to interfere with their own time or I've managed to get ahead by now. I'm quite fortunate in that. There are still things to do, but so many people are out, there's little urgency.

I hope not. I don't love 3D movies and dread going to see them when the kids ask.
Saw Wreck-It Ralph yesterday in 2D and it was good. But I noticed during the previews that there are at least 3 kinds of 3D. Is it just branding or are there differences in results or the glasses you have to wear? I understand that IMax 3D is different at least in the way that IMax is different from a normal screen, but is there any difference there either?
Actually 4 formats. And yes, there are different types of glasses. We have a 3D blu ray, and a 3D 'ready' TV, so my wife got a 3D movie. Then asked 'why doesn't it work?'
So I explained to her we are missing both a converter and the glasses.
Hazards of a new format, where standards have not been firmed up.
Which just made me realize that my wife and her sister bought a bunch of 3D blurays for her father and his 3D tv, I'll have to check on that

not a clue. If Bluray stopped, they're still selling them.

No, BluRay won the hi-def "war." HDDVD never really caught on.

No, it was the better technology in too many ways, so naturally it lost. 🙂 Just as we had a while back with VCR standards.
When the big media companies get involved, they tend to want whatever will be worst for the consumer, so that stuff wears out/fails quickly or is poor quality, so that consumers have to buy more to get the same level of satisfaction.
