Melktert! Awesome (well, when made properly). Apple. Lemon meringue (lemon slightly sour, meringue sweet)

I've never heard of a melktert pie...

It's not 'melktert pie', it's just 'melktert' (english translation Milk tart). You could call it a custard pie I suppose, but it's not quite.

Ah, thanks! I'll have to look it up and give it a try. I've made an English Custard pie, translating it into American was fun.

    Try this

I don't personally make it, easier to buy. Done properly it shouldn't be very sweet.

I don't know if I could buy it here without finding a specialty store. I'll let you know how it turns out if I have a chance to make one soon.

I know I like cherry or blueberry, and I know that I don't like the creamy/chocolatey pies. I don't know if there are other pies I don't like, but I also don't know if they are other pies I like.

Mmm, cherry pie! Best cherry pies I ever had were when my Grandma would make them using cherries picked earlier in the week...

You should try to track down a rhubarb pie, it's a very tart pie.

Too bad you don't like the chocolatey pies, my wife makes a mean double-chocolate mud pie (even more fun is when she accidentally made it into "barbarian pie..." It uses chocolate pudding mix, well she used the wrong kind of milk in it, so it didn't "jell," myself and three other people just grabbed spoons and dug in...)

(dang, now I want to try to find someplace with rhubarb pie...)

...Apple is easy. I tried to make one I could eat this past weekend. I have diabetes, so I had to change it a little. I made a whole-wheat crust from scratch and used Splenda instead of sugar. Other people liked it a lot, but I've now tried Splenda in different combinations and I just can't eat it.

Have you tried Truvia or Agave Nectar?

Is the first one the one that tasted like licorice? I haven't tried the second. I like nutrasweet, I drink lots of diet soda, but I understand it doesn't work well in cooking.

I haven't tried Truvia, just heard of it. I've gotten a bottle of Agave nectar and tried it once so far with a faux bananas fosters. I didn't notice a difference between it and the brown sugar and my topping syrup tasted really good.

Nutrasweet doesn't bake well, but you can cook with it in other ways. I'm not a fan of the fake sugars, though. I tend to go with the substitutes that actually come from other plants.

  • Yes, yes I am still a live. Just haven't had much to say lately.

  • It was pretty busy time for me, a few releases within a span of three days, all of them of course more complicated that anyone expected.

I did not get a full weekend off in 10 weeks.

  • Wow.

Is the Denver SQL Saturday really soliciting calls a year ahead of time?

If so, that's fantastic. I'm not used to these events being that on the ball. Too many last minute notifications make it difficult to make plans.

Believe it or not, the emails came out late compared to what they announced last week at SQL Saturday SLC. :w00t::w00t:

They are planning to make it an annual event and doing it around the same time every year should make it a bit easier for subsequent years.

I will probably submit and then have to bribe somebody in order to get selected 😉

Different task over here, but "Buried" is a good way to describe it:-)
