Are the posted questions getting worse?

That was a very thorough answer. I'll bet you it's not what he wants though. I'm still not sure where he's trying to get to.

    My best guess πŸ™‚

    But you're probably right πŸ™

I'm not getting what this guy is after, so I'm clearly not helping. Could someone else check it out please?

I tried my best, but it is an awful question. If I had seen it on http://dba.stackexchange.com/ or http://stackoverflow.com/ I would likely have down-voted it and moved on.

Paul and I answered in the same vein (Paul's answer is substantially more thorough). I'd agree he probably won't care to hear the options, but mostly because he's stuck on a testing methodology which is going to lead him to bad conclusions.

In short - probably not what he *wants*, but more along the lines of what he actually *needs*.

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?

Ooo I missed that one - must have come in while I was writing mine. I might not have bothered!

  • Just figured out a solution to a SSRS report that I've been messing with for way too long.

:satisfied: (as long as the customer likes it)

If you ever get around to having one in Bangkok, I'm there!

My mantra: No loops! No CURSORs! No RBAR! Hoo-uh![/I]

My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?

    My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.

Hahaha! Brussels is just about big enough for a brewery, a monastery and a chippy - so long as the brewery is IN the monastery!
