Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • Brandie! Where are my cookies? I could really use them. The obnoxious one is just spending way too much time here now a days. It's taking all my strength to NOT mouth off.

Quick poll: how would you pronounce the word "Route"?

I'll explain why later, if I'm not too embarrassed.

    Steve.

"Root" is the proper pronunciation as Nat King Cole taught us in the classic song "(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66"

Actually, the noun is pronounced "root" (as the Mr. Cole was doing) and the verp is pronounced "rout" (rhymes with "doubt"). At least it is by everyone I speak with, here in Ameriker. ๐Ÿ˜€

No, it's not! Down here in South Africa we agree with the Ozzies and Brits for a change. It is pronounced "root" for both of the two or three meanings. Or four.

And they appear to be ignoring the advice they had been given in the other thread. What is wrong with this picture (and please, don't say the painter or the photographer)?
