Mandatory evacuation area has expanded on the North West side of Colorado Springs. The area now includes the area where I currently work.
Waiting for email updates to know what our next steps are regarding work. I am glad I live on the South East side of town.
Please keep a close friend and his family in your thoughts or prayers. They have had to evacuate their home due to the Waldo Canyon Fire.

Just heard from my friend. They got out of the area with the fire right behind them. They are with family in Denver.

Well, I did the best I could.
I 'liked' the book on Amazon, gave it 5 stars and wrote a small review.
Also voted the 1-star review as unhelpful, as it discusses only layout and not really the content.
Oh, don't vote those down. Those were honest reviews. Mind you, I don't like them, but I respect them.
Unlike the 1-star the last book got from someone actually trying to undermine it. Person only reviewed one book, mine, gave it a negative, and the comments were demonstrably false. It was ultimately pulled by Amazon.
Thanks for the support though.

And we have another horror story, Already tried repair, rebuild, detach/attach, backup/restore (no backup prior to this error).
Youch! That's a real horror story.

I find it an unfair review. If you order an iPad and it gets broken during shipment, does it mean all iPads suck? (yes they do, but that's beside the point :-))

The BOOLEAN data type would only have two values: TRUE or FALSE. Not 0, 1 or NULL, just TRUE or FALSE. This is why it would be simpler to write:
I vote for a TROOLEAN datatype: Yes, No, Maybe (and unknown)
And I also pine for a time duration datatype.
Yeah, I could go for a duration data type.

Why do you say they suck? I love mine.

I'm mostly talking about the vendor lock-in and the lack of connectability. The device itself is quite awesome, albeit a bit pricy. I'm just not a big fan of the games Apple plays.

Love mine too, it just has to be said, it is not a replacement for a computer. Very nice for simpler things (games, writing, reading, etc), but not a computer replacement.

I'm not sure what you mean by "vendor lock in" and lack of connectability.

Very true. A big part of the reason I love mine is the games I play on it, especially Titan. I haven't used it for a hell of a lot other than that so far, but I'm sure I will as soon as I need to buy another computer manual. Perhaps Grant's new book. Sadly I'd already purchased a bunch of computer books just before I got the iPad.

You can write on yours? As in heavily write?
I've always thought that writing would be near impossible to do on that thing without additional peripherals that would make the iPad less of a portable device and more like a laptop.

+1
I know many people that still need to open their eyes about this. if their jobs involve only reading/writing e-mails and documents, it is OK, otherwise it cannot replace a computer (Try installing SS 2K8 Express :-D).

Yes. Any time I'm going to the coffee ship with intention to do some writing only, I take the iPad. If I'm going to do some writing, and will need to test queries and take screenshots or excel graphs, etc, then it's the laptop.
Even if you do want an external keyboard, you can get smallish ones that double as a case for the iPad and don't make it significantly bigger.
