"Surface"? Really? What kind of marketing department names a tablet with such a mundane moniker?
Surface was previously the name of their table computer (touch screen, about the size of a coffee table).
I loved that thing. I'd have had one for the house if it didn't cost the entire national debt of Paraguay.
Same here. I would have loved to get one for the D&D table, would have made games so much easier to run. But at the price it was, not feasible.
I'd been hoping they'd keep putting out new versions and eventually it'd become, if not reasonable, at least down to the price of a high end tv.

Hmmm,
Could it be we will be getting new products from Microsoft named:
- Texture
- Volume
- Area
- Softness
- Liquid
- Solid
- Plasma
and so on?
Honestly, I think that product could have a better name :-D.

They changed the name of the old table system:

Ladies, Gentlemen, and Threadizens of all shapes and sizes! Come one, come all for the latest news of the day!Me, your humble dba, from out of the blue, happened to have thrown into his lap the proverbial dream job. (Or did it fall from the sky and bean me? Either way, it's a silver platter.) It seems like it is everything that I always wanted - indeed my dream job. So today, I've submitted my resignation with my company. (Actually, I submitted it last week, and just turned down their counter-offer today, but hey, whose splitting hairs here???)
I'll be starting the new job in a couple of weeks. I'll be a DBA with a small company that some of you'll in the northeast corridor might have heard about... Ntirety. I do believe that this is going to be an awesome experience, and am looking forward to working with these fine guys and gals.
Congratulations. This'll require a relocation on your part?
that's part of what makes it my dream job... no relocation! 😀

IMHO, the next best thing in mobile computing needs to involve cherrys and chocolate.

Working from home, the best commute in the world. I interviewed with them back in December. They went with someone in the Dedham office instead. I would have loved to work from home. Oh well, I have a pretty good job now with awesome benefits. Now, if I can just get to Afghanistan for a while...

Surface was previously the name of their table computer (touch screen, about the size of a coffee table).
I loved that thing. I'd have had one for the house if it didn't cost the entire national debt of Paraguay. I'm not surprised they repurposed the name.
I could use a surface computer. A monster sized touch screen tablet to go on a 9x12 wall.

Wow, getting the Attunity drivers to work with Oracle is an enormous pain. This shouldn't be something that takes days to get right.

The only surprise is that anyone uses Oracle for anything.

So, Cheese & Wine will be the platform and OS. Chocolate Covered Cherries will be the app that can only run on Cheese & Wine, right?
