Hard to say because the content of the question(s). I'd have a hard time not coming across as snarky if I posted any answers on that thread.

Maybe we should start a new thread for oenophiles. We could call it the wine cooler thread!:-)
As long as there will also be an equivalent beer thread ๐
I will follow both. ๐
Et voila, the beer cooler thread is a fact!

If it was easy, our jobs would be much less stable.edit: BTW, I like your pretty thorough replies re how to reuse SSIS package.
Thanks. I was sure hoping my browser wouldn't crash when hitting the post button, because I wouldn't like to type it all out again. ๐

For those not on tiwtter, just signed the papers for my new house. Went from no debt to hundreds of thousands, but in the long run it'll be great!Any of you New England folks are welcome to make a trip to NH this Saturday to help us move. For the next month I have 2 houses so I can even put up some travellers ๐
Congratulations Mr. Corbett.
We just bought a home ourselves in the Denver (CO) area. We are apartment dwellers no-more.
Congrats to both of you. Where are you, Mr. Tillman?

So much fun when moving hundreds of Oracle tables to SQL Server that Oracle alphabetizes as
X, Y, Z, _
and SQL Server alphabetizes as
_, A, B, C
When every table and column name is ALL CAPS and EVERYONE_LOVES_USDERSCORES_EVERYWHERE it becomes a real PITA to keep track of everything.

When you encounter a problem, if the solution isn't readily evident go back to the start and check your assumptions.

Thanks Steve. We bought a home just north of Denver. 'Still trying to unpack boxes (again!). By the way, the houses near the tech center sure are expensive - about $250,000 and up I think?
Anyway, Colorado is so much better than where we were living. It's dry, but relatively cool here for instance.

I'm actually kind of happy about that so I don't end up with things in the wrong order because characters starting at 100 are _STORE_ and _STORES_
I'm hoping that after I get everything to SQL Server I can re-write everything.

Of course, now that you mention it, that's probably why there are table names like COM_PL_RPT_FMT_WTH_GRP_CST_EMP
totally readable, what are you talking about?
It is also fun that, likely because of the character limit, the use of underscores is sometimes partially abandoned.

Calling all SSIS experts that may come to the water cooler for a drink!
I have posted an SSIS question in the SQL 2008 General forum and I'm not sure that's really the best place for it as there are other SSIS forums.
Just raising awareness. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?
My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.

Yes. I saw that and thanks.
Perhaps I should post this to the beer cooler thread for maximum exposure.
