If I go to the conference (I'm definitely going to try to get the money together for it), I'll hopefully be able to stay at a friend's house. I grew up in Seattle, and my family still knows people there (even though none of us live there these days).
If not, EVERYTHING in Seattle can be reached by bus. And it was cheap to get a 1 week pass last time I checked, that'll let you ride everywhere. And downtown is free. So pretty much any hotel in town is good to go, just may have a bit longer ride than otherwise.

What is the deadline for registering as a mere attendee?
I'm working on getting my company to let me make a trip this year.

Until May 1st it's $1195, but if you use the SSC3D registration code you get $100 off AND an invite to the SSC party. See this: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/pass/66318/

Oops, I read your question the way I would have asked it. I can't find a registration deadline anywhere on the Summit web site.

In previous years you've been able to register right up until the start of the conference. It just gets progressively more expensive as you get closer to the conference

Actually you can register on the last day of the conference if you want to. I don't know why you would, but it's possible.

You've got today and tomorrow to put an abstract together. The worst that'll happen is they say no. Go for it.

Well there's a good one in the Certification section.
Someone looking for SQL Server Certification is asking what SSMS is. If you don't know what it is and don't know how to find out then please go play somewhere else.
