Someone brought a baby in to work! I want to go to Germany and see my grandson! :exclamationmark:Don't say you start behaving like these hysterical women who go all berserk when one of the other female colleagues bring in their newborn? TsTsTs... :w00t:
Nope, just sat at my desk wishing I could go to Germany for a bit and actually get to see and hold my 3 month old grandson.

Nah, he's not going to come back. I'm sure he'll start another thread very soon and get some other victims attracted.Liked Eugene's dbo.p_ShowMeWhenICanGoHome though. Yeah, it was a pile-on, but I learned something when I saw RAISERROR (@msg,10,1) WITH NOWAIT and actually ran the SP.
Only problem is he won't have learned anything. So much that could have been done weeks ago had he just listened, read, and posted what was requested.
Sure, but one can only help so far. Slowly I'm starting to wonder whether he's not just a Troll who's trying to provoke all kinds of not so funny reactions from The Experts.
Maybe, or he could have been totally clueless.

Well, then just DO IT! You got your army connections, so I'm sure you'll find someone to offer you a place to stay near the compound? Yeah, leaves the cost of the flights....
Edit: Managed to quote the wrong one :w00t:

I was Air Force, got out in 1982 after 4 years.
My daughter said I could stay with them, I just don't have the money or the vacation accrued to be able to go at this time. I will just have to wait a little longer.

From one of his responses when I suggested he talk to his boss, I don't think his boss even cares.

Barry!!!!!!Welcome back. How ya been?
Hey Gail, et. all.. 🙂 Life's been crazy, but slowly getting better.
So what'd I miss?
😀
Hi Barry!
Glad to hear things have been getting better. A lot of folks have missed you.
What have you missed? A lot of new Threadizens, a never-ending supply of new trolls, Brandie is now a published author of several books, Lynn has a grandchild. Grant works for Red-Gate. Steve's wife has left the corporate world and now runs her own horse business. SQL Server 2012 has been released. And... Posted questions are definitely getting worse.
And we're all still waiting for the next step in "50 ways to leave your cursor". 🙂

Sometime in the somewhat recent past somebody shared a story about a company that went belly up due to their triggers not supporting multiple rows. I brought this up in a recent thread and Dwain was interested to know more about it. Apparently he recently fixed all the triggers at his company because none of them supported multiple row activity. Does anybody remember much about that story or who it was from? If so, care to share the story again?

was i too harsh on this chap??
as for stored procedures - well frankly if your manager doesn't know how to give you permissions to add stored procedures then he should not be in charge of a sql server.
and if you're working on a live server and not a dev box then why not install sql express on your laptop/dev machine and do it there - you don't need all the data , just enough for you to be able to put some sample data in and know what you are trying to acheive - and then be able to prove your solution works.....
when you get there you can prove to your manager that it is fit for purpose - to be honest i'm not keen to help anyone who is playing on a live SQL server as it only makes me culpable if you follow my instructions and get it wrong
