With "the one", do you think it time to tell him the following?1. Get out a blank piece of paper.
2. Put your name and today's date at the top.
3. At the bottom, sign your name.
4. In between the lines written above write, I Quit.
5. Give this to your boss.
LOL those instruction might be too clear to be understood by the subject.
IMHO - you guys should walk away from that one.
To be honest, I think anyone involved in that one should walk away. Problem is, once we do, what if he suddenly has an ephany and actually posts useful and vital information that could actually help us help him?
Come back and prod it with an 11 foot pole?

So, annoying news. My contract which was supposed to run till end of year is getting popped in about 2 and a half months. Ah well. Anyone need a SQL Dev in Phoenix for third quarter?
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

Seems to me that I saw quite a few contract positions down that way. I was just more interested in staying where I am, close to my girls.

Yeah, it's not too bad. Figured I'd see if anyone here had some openings first before I give the overhead to the headhunters again.

Unfortunately, I can't help you there. The only thing I can tell you is to stay away from one national recruiting company in Plano, TX. If interested, PM and I'll tell you who.

If any would-be employee claims to be a Threadzian, we have two questions that we can now ask them during the interview.1) What does sp_kleenex do and when would you use it?
2) How many parameters does DBCC Timewarp really have?
If they don't have an answer for either, they get booted out of the building...
@=)
Speaking of DBCC TimeWarp... I watched Grant use it Sat at SQLSat111 during lunch demo. I don't think any other attendees really knew what was really happening though...
Shhhhh.... no one was supposed to notice.

Although his grammar is unintentionally hilarious at points, creating other words in English when the end of one gets tacked onto the start of another. example: "It snot my database" <-- I HATE when that happens, takes forever to run sp_kleenexmaby if you typed "IQ uit
That might invite the question -
What is the numeric value of uit?
Or U confuz me.
Lynn though is ever the optimist, which always amazes me.
I wish I could have that attitude more often.

I really shouldn't keep going back and reading that thread. But every time I think it can't get any more surreal, it does...

I have been here before in other threads. I'm sure there are those where I never succeeded, but it is the ones where the OP suddenly has that ephany and realizes what is going on and actually learns something that make the battles worth fighting. If everyone gave up when things got tough, some people wouldn't benefit from this site. I guess everyone deserves the chance. That's why there is also the TitD (Tent in the Desert), my little retreat where we sometimes have the parties. Just remember to announce yourself to the Guard Hippo. You'll know him (or her) by the tu-tu.

Creativity and thinking outside the box is what sometimes (many times?) shows in the soltuions.
Sometimes technical, other times just a mind bending play on words.
Over the weekend someone dropped by at the poker party I was at and started a discussion about the aliens they had seen.....

Aliens as illegal immigrants or those from Zeta Reticuli?

The second one, we attributed it to possible toad licking or mushroom consumption.
And since she mentioned getting a bear last fall, we made sure we were polite.
Someone who can go in the woods and kill a bear on their own might not be wise to get upset.
It was entertaining though.

Some days, this helps:Or this (my drink of choice tonight)
The image does not display in my IE9. Or was ite meant to be a Zen koan?
displays fine in my Firefox 11 (32 bit XP Pro). It looks like an empty tequila bottle with a very poor quality cork, but I'm not a tequila man so maybe cork standards are different.
It's not empty. You can see the level right above the "TEQUILA 100% DE AGAVE" hexagon.
Ah, I thought that was a feature of the bottle's shoulder, not a tequila/air boundary.
So there's another reason to eschew tequila, gin, vodka, and ron blanco: it's hard to see how much you have left in the bottle.
