Not sure but I think this individual, xenophilia, should change their name to xenosqlia. Please, someone tell me why, just why do I keep helping someone who doesn't try for themselves?
Lack of alcohol preventing clear judgment???

Comes and goes in waves.
Just remember that you can't usually win an argument with someone that isn't willing to try. A few times lately I've seen what I think are way too many posts trying to get someone to respond. If they don't want to try, please leave them be.

the inability not to respond to some one who asks a question with out posting DDL and Sample data and ask them for it? then once they posted the sample data you feel trapped.

There are several possibilities: I'lll list the ones that spring to mind n decreasing order of liklihood.
1)Pure blockheaded insane optimism?
2)A misguided belief that you can help the unhelpable?
3)A belief that everyone is redeemable, even by remote electronic communication?
4)Pig-headed unwillingless to accept that you can't get through to them?
5)You enjoy wasting your time?
6)Too low an alcohol intake?
7)Pure stupidity?
I sometimes do the same, but in my case I think the cause is number 6 on that list. Or maybe number 7. But I don't really know.

Lack of Oxygen because of spending too much time in the same tent as a herd of camels?
No camels, just one guard hippo and Jason is supposed to be taking care of him (or is it a her, can't tell because of tu-tu).

I do get the satisfaction of having helped someone who thought I was wrong regarding a problem with compressed backups. That makes me feel good.

So, I'm the only DBA this morning for several hours (one will be late, one is off) and of course this is the morning that everything breaks.

Speaking of brains, does anyone have one to spare?
And does anyone know if I can have multiple copies of Kleopatra running at the same time, decrypting different files? My google-fu keeps coming up with Elizabeth Taylor... @sigh

Sorry, mine's just declared the rest of the day to be a do-nothing day due to overwork.

Oh lord, I think someone either has a homework panic (as seems to be standard around here) or is WAY over their heads at their job. They want me to design an entire Tennis management system for them. Good news is, I've done it before (wish I still had the design actually). Bad news is, hells no. I got paid to do it last time.

Tell him you have the code lying around and that you'll send it to him, together with your generous consulting fee. 😀

A little boy goes to his father and asks, "Daddy, how was I born?"
The father answers,"Well, son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway!
Your mother and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo.
Then I set up a date via e-mail with her and we met at a cyber-cafe.
We sneaked into a secluded room and Googled each other.
Then your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive.
As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said:*

And then suppose they sell this as an app.
I wonder how it gets supported if there is and issue?

What is wrong with people today? So many stupid posts with little to no information or clarity. Did I miss the memo about today being "Leave your brain at home day"???
My wife and I used to live in a small town. We'd notice that traffic seemed to have patterns (seeing non-existent patterns in chaotic systems is a privilege of the human mind), and we'd joke that the Country/Western stations must have announced "Cut People Off Day", or "Unsignalled, Suicidal Merge Day", or whatever. Since we didn't listen to those stations, it made sense as a joke. (So, not only were we spotting non-existent patterns, but we were assigning a deliberate, hidden causation to them! Fun!)
Maybe it's something like that.
