Is the SQL 2012 launch event site down for everyone else?

Yes. The commentary on twitter is not pretty...

  • Yeah, I can't get there either..

  • I just got to an invalid activation code and dialog box in order to resend.

  • Watch the virtual event keynote without logging in: http://t.co/DW4m8Ob2.

Looks like it works on Chrome only.

    Ironic, isn't it?

  • This works on Firefox, haven't tried anything else

Go to about 55 minutes and you can watch the keynote from the start

IE10 in the Win8 developer & consumer preview is pretty good. Faster than Chrome, which has become my standard browser. Unfortunately, our code has to support IE6+, FireFox 3.0+ and Chrome so despite IE10 being a massive improvement I still will probably avoid it due to the issues I have to deal with from its ancestors πŸ˜›

Hopefully the auto-updates will solve some of those issues by upgrading people who aren't manually doing it.

  • After two weeks I am back. Actually I did not go anywhere but the work kept me busy.

So what is the topic now? Anything interesting happened during the last 15 days? πŸ™‚

On another note, the SQL Saturday that we organized on our island was a big success. Lots of work but it was worth the time spend. I even gave two sessions.

  • Congratulations .. I know from experience putting on a SQL Sat is indeed almost a full time job. I hope your presentations were well received ..

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Wow, I bet a lot of businesses will freak out over this. Small, Mid-size and Smaller "large" companies have a lot of systems that still run IE6, mostly because they haven't tested them with anything newer. I know quite a few still mandate IE6 on their desktops/laptops. Then there are all the businesses that still have XP or older and are going to worry about moving from IE6.

  • Hi all,

havent been around 'the thread' for a while, and only dipped in and out of SSC, been a bit busy :ermm:

Im running a lunch time user group in London on 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month , basically ive stolen Patrick Leblanc's SQLLunch idea πŸ™‚

Anyway the room lends itself to remote presentations, something ive been a bit 'unkeen' on in the past , but seems to work well in a pub style setting. So would anyone be so kind as to put their hand up to do a session ? Last time we had Patrick Leblanc, Grant is doing the 13th.... Any takers ? Kick off time is 12:30pm London time

    Cheers

    Wait.

    It's at a pub?

You have to send me beer, or I don't go on.

Actually, wait, the 13th... nuts. Never mind. I'm alcohol free for the next two weeks (and caffeine free, if you get stabbed, you've been warned). I'll do the session anyway.
