Tried polite and unpolite impolite comments directed at him, neither received a reply so I'm just attempting to ignore him now.

    Understood.

I'm just nervous. We've had a tendency to come out of this thread & maul people. Don't get me wrong, one or two had it coming. But a few of them were just gleeful idiots who probably lost a limb when an admonishment would have worked just fine.

  • The only real lambasting I gave was the SVVM thread, and that would have been given with or without the thread (in fact was before i dropped by the thread this afternoon)

If it was the only time he'd done that, I'd agree with you, but at least half of his posts are of links that are completely unrelated to the questions. (eg a question on limiting the max query cost gets a reply with a link to a script to find the max of multiple columns in a table)

    Sent a note to him/her

Yes, please ignore. Don't jump all over him. One comment on a post is fine.

I just ask what a link about "x" has to do with a problem with "y" and try to post a response that actually addresses the OP's original post.

I'm actually concerned when I click on links by that person. I'm waiting for some kind of virus.:w00t:

    I received a reply once.

I'm still trying to decipher it, because there must be some hidden message... :hehe:

My "dope slapping" comes across more like that (easy on him) than I'd like. No screaming or flaming. Just an succinct explanation as to why such a thing may be wrong. It's still an awakening for someone that doesn't know.

  • Hey guys, I'm out of my depth here, query tuning without knowing a massive amount of detail is impossible for me. I've managed to get execution plans posted, but I can't really help the guy so can someone else take a look please?
