I just pass these by completely. On other sites, the question would simply be closed or deleted as too poor to exist. Are you saying we are too nice for the Internet? 😀
I'll admit to being too leniant in some cases, occasionally I do a tongue in cheek reply using LMGTFY

This is part of the care and feeding of the Thread.

I couldn't help myself. I responded to the awkward responder. Maybe if we talk to him, he might start paying more attention to what he's doing.

We'll see. I was going to send a note, but I'll leave it alone for now.

I made a comparable comment here, didn't work

There seems to be an influx of these at the moment. So many that I'm going to be cutting back on my replies

Is it a character flaw that every time I ask for help and someone tells me that it will take too long and be too hard, to get mad and provide them with a potential solution as fast as I possibly can?
Seems like a character flaw...

Anyone interested in proof-reading an article on bulk-logged recovery and minimally logged operations? It's titled as an introductory article, but I read the log and might end up with some hex dumps as well, so I'm not sure how much of a 'primer' it is any more.

Seems to me like something you should put on your resume. It would definitely get my attention.

I'm not sure something like that COULD be an introductory article once you get into the meat of it. I'd be happy to review it but I'll be just as likely to read it so I can learn a few things, so as a tech-review I'm not sure I'd help. From a newbie perspective I could definately give it a once over.
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

Character flaw, no. Counterproductive, yes. If everytime you needed something from me I whine at you and you go do it for me, why would I ever do it for you? OTOH, if you make them look stupid all the time, particularly in front of management, that won't help politically either.
Am I guilty? Oh hells yes.

From a grammar, make sense, don't understand perspective?
I'm thinking of asking Jonathan to check it for errors, partially so he can get some revenge for the book.

From that perspective I might be the perfect candidate. Enough knowledge to kinda follow along but intending to learn something. I'd be happy to review it for you. I'll PM you my email.

People do not like to be made look stupid, even when it is not in front of management.

True enough, but then they shouldn't be telling me creating an Active Directory group is a difficult task as a network administrator, either. Okay, a bit overboard of an example, but... meh.
