It is official -- SQLS 2012 release date is March 7.

As I was just told, this is the launch, not release.

According to some SQL Server MVP's on Twitter, it is a virtual launch - which is more of a marketing event - not a release.

The target release data was March 23, the Friday before the Las Vegas event. March 7 seems to coincide with the RTM of the March release of MSDN DVDs.

  • Whether release happens that day or not has not been stated (and likely hasn't been decided even), currently that (and SQLbits at the end of March) are listed as launch events, so marketing, promotion and the like.

Some might remember SQL 2008, launch event was late February and the release date was in August. Not saying it'll be close to that (better not be), but the online event is officially launch.

  • Anyone else losing CR/LFs when they copy paste code off the site recently? I've had the problem in anything in a code="", plain or SQL.

EDIT: I can quote and copy just fine, can't do it from the thread directly.

I've had that issue today when copying code from the default trace article.

Also the code boxes have been fixed (from way to big), to now way too small. All in all I preffer the old way and there's no in-between.

    Oooh, a palindrome! Nice.

It's also the first five binary digits of 10001001 - a number I seem to recall has special significance to you 🙂

Yes, I do have a fondness for that number.

Ran into it again over the weekend watching Flash Forward. Wondering if it's accidental or intentional (and no, I don't want someone spoiling the rest of the season)

As for Flash Forward, the blackout and flash forward that the series is named for was 2 minutes, 17 seconds long.

Ah, thank you. I now understand 137 and also that there's yet less that I understand...

    ... Ow. My brain hurts.

You got me lost over here.

"the first five binary digits of 10001001", ie., 0x10001 = 65537

    What am I missing?

    Thanks...
