9/11 boat lift. Apparently it took forever for someone to document this. Half a million people in 9 hours.

Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

Allright, back again after 3 week hiatus. I had to choose between getting more sleep or the Thread. It was not an easy choice to make 😀
(just kidding, it was an easy choice :-))
So, did I miss anything important?
I know SOPA/PIPA has been stopped, they did not really had a direct impact on Europe, but it is nice to see anyway.
I know about the PASS elections, just been reading some blogs about it.
So what's up?

I just delivered a "lunch-and-learn" to the devs where I work. Since we just upgraded to SQL 2008 R2, it was on new T-SQL features they might find useful, plus a few 2005 features they hadn't seen yet. Included Output, Merge, Table-Value Constructors, Date datatype, immediate variable initialization, and a DDL trigger that logs all schema changes. The company paid for lunch, and I talked and showed them sample code and the results from it. About half an hour. Was fun, and everyone liked it.
Anyone else done that kind of thing? I've done longer presentations in more formal settings before, but this was really a convenient way to quickly cover an intro to a bunch of useful data.
I've done two of those "brown bag" sessions. Except it wasn't during lunch, because the room wasn't available then.
I really enjoyed doing it. It's a nice way of introducing a topic and yourself as well: got a possible lead for giving a full training.

The sample can be found here (in .pdf): http://www.crazy8press.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Unlatched-teaser.pdf.The blog post with the sample link is at: http://www.crazy8press.com/2012/01/12/sample-the-first-latchkeys-adventure/[/url] (in case you don't want to go directly to the .pdf file).
Well, I'm going to buy it for myself before I let my niece loose on it. Read the sample and still unsure whether or not she'll get a long with it - the horror aspect might be a bit too old for her (she has read a massive amount of the goosebumps books though so I may be being over-sensitive).
The plus side of that is you'll be getting a review and possibly a second sale 😀
