Does anyone else have issues with the Edit Signature page on the control panel? It only ever shows 1 line of the .sig in the edit window and then I have to always hit UPDATE twice to get the update to take. (Picture attached). I find it really annoying.
Click and drag the box (circled in red) to expand.

Brandie, maybe it's time to edit your sig!Come see me at A-Kon 22 for the launch of "The Ladies of Trade Town"! June 11th, 2011
I don't see the problem. Y'all have DBCC Timewarp, don't you? @=)

I noticed it long back. Its default behaviour it seems. It takes two clicks (updates) to refresh in preview section.
I prefer two windows, one for setting page and another regular forum view to check actual signature (keep refreshing the page).
Finally, decided to remove the signature.

Sorry, should have said that it doesn't work with IE (well, can't get it to work with 8 or 9). Works in Chrome for definite, and think it worked in Firefox as well but I've uninstalled it so can't check.

Just got this ad on linked in!Become an Oracle DBA in 24 Hours... call or mail <SNIP>
Not sure if this link will work for y'all.
Wow. It only takes 24 hours to learn Oracle? Sign me up! How many credit card numbers do you need before I get my certification?
I've flagged it as inappropriate. Hope others have too.
I have, and since absolutely no comment are for the spam, it should help in moderating the post. That being said I don't know how much moderation we should expect from linkedin, I've never reported anything there before.
It's the first time I've reported anything there too (in fact I only worked out how to do so after I read that post) so I don't know whether it will have any effect or not. But if several people report it that may be more likely to produce a useful response than if only one does.
The post is gone now, so the flagging worked. I was going to flag it as weil, but can't.

I have some research, I have found a lot of items that are REAL match in the same store I bought them in in the first place. I have most of the bills for the big ticket items. What I'm really wondering about is how to argue the depreciation part. From their estimate everything in the house is either good for trash or will be within 10-12 years or purchase (new) so they take 30-40% off right then and there.Know any CPAs or business owners who can recommend their accountants? You can get the proper depreciation values from them.
Also, you need an expert on your side that can testify if you decide to take them to court. Now, this is not saying you will take them to court, but if you have experts and documents from said experts, you're more likely to get higher figures from the insurance company. Also, having a lawyer friend would come in handy right now.
As far as the electrical stuff goes, you can fight that. The question is do you want to? Because you really will have to fight in order to get them to pony up the extra money for all those electronics.
This is a very good time to go back and review the actual wording of your policy. Not a lot of people actually look at the policies when making their claims and the more you know about your rights the better of a position you are in.
Overall I agree with Brandi. You can get adjustments made, especially if you have the receipts for things, but it's a battle. Lots of arguments over the phone.
In terms of depreciation, it sucks, but it's real. The value of your stuff is lower over time, and if you had to replace it, you'd get something better for full value. It stinks with insurance, but they aren't replacing the functionality, they're replacing the value.
What I do recommend is you look at your policy moving forward and see what the premium costs are for replacement, not value, on a policy. More, but they can help. Me, I prefer to pick my replacements, or forego replacements in some cases, so I'll argue for a bit to get more $$, but not a ton. Not worth the time.

I agree with anything electronic or with moving parts but what I'm POed about is stuff like high quality wood bedroom set. That alone was worth 6K+ 2 years ago. It is as close quality wise as my parents' set which has now lasted over 40 years with no sign of fatigue.
Don't come in and try telling me it's lost 30-40% value overnight.
By their current estimate this thing will be good for the dumpster by year 5 (assuming linear deterioration). It's not like I'm hosting cirque du Soleil shows in there every night.

Depreciation isn't linear in some cases. Likely your insurance company is doing this:
Purchase - 100%
Year 1 - 80%
Year 2 - 65%
Year 3 - 50%
Year 4 - 40%
Year 5 - 32%
...
Accelerated depreciation, which is what you want in business. Take the tax breaks earlier in the lifespan. Even if the years 10-15 result in only 1% depreciation. That's why you find companies replacing items quicker than consumers, because at some point the depreciation is low and you get a big boost in tax savings (and a nice new car/truck/factory) from buying a new one.
Go argue with them the furniture has a 25 year span and it's got linear depreciation for usage, not accelerated. Get them up to a more reasonable level of it was worth 80% of a new set.
