You're going to have to write up an article about migrating Sharepoint databases for the SQL DBA. In fact, I insist upon it as I might have to do this sometime in the future... Do it. DO IT! @=) (pretty please, sugar on top?)
+1
I really need a good article on migrating Sharepoint databases & so do many other SQL DBAs. When Kiara has already migrated Sharepoint databases successfully, who else can write better ??
If Kiara won't - and she has the right of first refusal -, perhaps someone in Building 35 could?
Can you spell out the topic for that white paper?
Ok, ok... I hear y'all. Loud and clear. I am serious when I say I'm overbooked for the next couple of months. But if no one else gets to it by then, I'll write one in the spring. As long as a couple of you agree to review, comment, and generally play devil's advocate. 😛

Just got this ad on linked in!Become an Oracle DBA in 24 Hours... call or mail <SNIP>
Not sure if this link will work for y'all.
Wow. It only takes 24 hours to learn Oracle? Sign me up! How many credit card numbers do you need before I get my certification?
I've flagged it as inappropriate. Hope others have too.
I have, and since absolutely no comment are for the spam, it should help in moderating the post. That being said I don't know how much moderation we should expect from linkedin, I've never reported anything there before.
It looks like it has been removed. There's a message saying that the group's service has been shut down.
However, it looks like there are lots of others out there to replace it! (oooooh.... I can become a heart surgeon in 3 days? Here's my credit card!)

Sounds like another thread I encountered. Person said s/he was willing to pay for in-depth training to tune queries. I'll hold onto the hope that it is recognition of shortcomings and willing to improve (in query tuning) for now.

I say this to everyone. Making the baby was the easy part! Make sure you make the most of it as they're only young once.

Talking about questionable activities, I've finally got the first offer from the insurance Cie.
Somehow they managed to justify (in their world), that the stuff I lost in the flooding back in august last year is worth peanuts (800 square feet, 4 rooms, all fully loaded with high quality stuff). Bedroom set, living room & tv set, home office.
My first estimate was over 10K, there offer? 3K and change.
Guess how they do this? Find something somewhere (no name brand of course) that sells new with similar-ish characteristics. Then don't tell me where they found it and provide no copy of that research.
After they find the item 50% off from what I paid they then take 35% of the top for depreciation & up to 90% (even if all my stuff is 4 years old or less, it's not like my bed is self desctructing).
And then, they don't pay the taxes which I obviously can't not pay.
Sum that up and here's you check (well settlement offer).
I welcome any tricks you have to fight this and have something closer to reality.
I have some research, I have found a lot of items that are REAL match in the same store I bought them in in the first place. I have most of the bills for the big ticket items. What I'm really wondering about is how to argue the depreciation part. From their estimate everything in the house is either good for trash or will be within 10-12 years or purchase (new) so they take 30-40% off right then and there.
I also got plenty of contradicting information. I got flooded and 2/3 of the expert said that anything electrical that touched water needs to be replaced (even if working now, because they will likely break down much faster). Just that info alone almost tripple what needs to be replace.
The other insurance cie did replace anything electrical already for the home owner (I rent). But MY electrical stuff somehow is bullet proof against water (so my Cie says).
Now 5 months later I see signs of failure on a few items but they tell me it's not their fault (because it has worked for a few months in between). Now I'm wondering what the heck will happen to the big freezer, tv, ps3, sound system, bike exerciser, printer, etc.

I don't see the problem. Y'all have DBCC Timewarp, don't you? @=)
Does anyone else have issues with the Edit Signature page on the control panel? It only ever shows 1 line of the .sig in the edit window and then I have to always hit UPDATE twice to get the update to take. (Picture attached). I find it really annoying.

Know any CPAs or business owners who can recommend their accountants? You can get the proper depreciation values from them.
Also, you need an expert on your side that can testify if you decide to take them to court. Now, this is not saying you will take them to court, but if you have experts and documents from said experts, you're more likely to get higher figures from the insurance company. Also, having a lawyer friend would come in handy right now.
As far as the electrical stuff goes, you can fight that. The question is do you want to? Because you really will have to fight in order to get them to pony up the extra money for all those electronics.
This is a very good time to go back and review the actual wording of your policy. Not a lot of people actually look at the policies when making their claims and the more you know about your rights the better of a position you are in.
