Then that makes sense for Virginia. But I'd like to know more about Colorado - especially since I'm lucky enough to live here now. 🙂
Steve, maybe you could let us know. I did just read that people here are more educated than in most other (US) states. That doesn't hurt.
Looks like there are details here: http://www.coloradotechnology.org/?IndustryReport

Good find Gus, I must have used the wrong search words or search engine - or both!
In a way though, that sort of begs the question: I wonder how Colorado became such a tech center to begin with. I mean, Calif. is certainly understandable. But I'd guess that most people don't even know that CO is such a tech center. Denver itself, maybe, but I think Colorado Springs has a lot of tech involvement too, increasing the whole state's percentage.

Probably all the federal operations out of Colorado are the core of it. NORAD, NOAA, et al.

Colorado, specifically Denver, is one of a few metropolitan locations where you can have private one-hop satellite links to both Europe and the Far East.

Merry Christmas all. Disappeared for a week and only 2 pages on the Thread when I came back! Y'all were slackin'! Of course, I have my post/page at maximum, so YMMV.
Jeff: Go for it. Please. Especially if you're going to vindicate with examples of WHY the million row test makes all the difference.
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

Dustbunny, actually. 🙂
Vacation was very good. Hadn't seen family in too long, realized I needed some of that.

By the way, one of your answers on this site was helpful to me the other day when I was trying to call a function (UDF) from a another server (can't be done). Thanks for that, it prevented a big headache.

Lots, lots of telco in CO. We were like the Silicon Valley of telco in the late 90s. Also, HP, Sun have some strong presences here. More *Nix based than Windows, but lots of jobs
and a relatively low population.
Plus great weather. Don't move here. We have enough people 😛

I have a feeling that they are one of them was talking about the SQL Pass Election.. Maybe I am mistaken... 🙂That's what I was thinking too. Of the winners, the only name I was familiar with is Rob Farley. Here is a link to the results:
You are correct, and while they were all great candidates, and I think the three winners will do a good job, they just don't happen to be the ones I voted for.

Based on the fact that we can't get people to run good sets of backups despite Umptymillion articles, blog posts, presentations, webcasts and screaming lightning talks, I don't think you're going to be giving away the secrets of the universe.
