Symptom of cross post:SSC refreshes the page while posting.
Workaround:
Browser's back button & hit Post. 😉
Not quite. If you don't refresh the page, you'll have the same problem. I know. I have tried your workaround without the refresh. @=)
Works for me... so far so good...
Brandie is correct, unless your browser is not pulling the page from cache when you go Back, and automatically reloading it. You have to refresh it to get the new version with the additional post from whomever else, then hit Post to add your reply

Alternative workaround: notice how many posts you are off, then go down that many posts and click the quote button on that post. (But it won't work to well if there is a sudden hot topic with lots of activity... but then again, refreshing the page sometimes doesn't work well in that instance either.)
This seems like this would be an easy fix... just have the quote button include the post number, and then quote that post.

Hey - i just noticed that my TSQL Tuesday post (also here)was today's front page blog here on SSC. I usually get a notification about that sort of thing from SSC, but not this time.
Thanks Steve.:hehe::w00t:

I haven't used these before, but I'm guessing the third image is where there should be color, but isnt? Is the query that populates this map returning data? 'cause that's what it looks like to me, no data returned. Sorry for asking such a simple question.

When you encounter a problem, if the solution isn't readily evident go back to the start and check your assumptions.

I'll copy/paste over there, but you're right on the images. However, the query does return data, so it's not that.

I use a method that doesn't suffer that problem: copy the post to clipboard before hitting send; if there's a cross post, back, refresh, hit reply+ (not quote), paste, and send.
It's also good for those otherwise annoying ocassions when the phone rings after you've typed some stuff, and when you coume back, type some more, and hit send you get the a session error (caused by too much elapsed time) - again hit back (maybe twice, depending on which kind of session error), then refresh, then reply+ and paste and send.
This seems like this would be an easy fix... just have the quote button include the post number, and then quote that post.
Since there's an easy foolproof workaround, I'm not surprised it's a low priority bug.

Aha! That's the problem! The solution is foolproof! I guess I'm just not enough of a fool! That's why it keeps being an annoyance for me! 🙂
