Favorite email exchange of the day (after the other party read the recursive CTE date article in the newsletter, and I pointed them to Jeff's comment/article in the discussion):

Exceptional DBA of 2011, SQL Developer extraordinaire, looks like Santa, codes like Satan.

Who is this jeff moden guy and why is he so crazy? (brilliant, maybe, but definitely crazy)

Well, he's crazy because of over-exposure to SQL Server and forums about it. Over-exposure is defined as either reading all of SSC's technical posts, spending at least ten years as a DBA, or reading/writing even one post on The Thread .... ooops.

Heh... "Reading all of SSC's techical posts?" Nah... takes too long. Had a permanent bionic implant. I don't have to read posts anymore... I can feel the posts now. πŸ˜€ That's why the suggestion of Steve going without pants hurt my eyes. :hehe:

But if you feel them, why did it hurt your eyes instead of your fingertips?

  • ....and anyway, isn't it somewhat improper to go around feeling posts? :w00t: Especially posts about pants?

BWAA-HAA! Only if the posts are in the pants. πŸ˜‰

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

Feeling posts is OK, taking them home to see mama, that's improper :hehe:

Only if the posts are in the pants.

And I thought you put pants on the post for all to see πŸ˜›

Far away is close at hand in the images of elsewhere.

I wouldn't list forum activity directly on my resume. What if they check "the thread"? :hehe:

I hope you didn't start at the beginning of the thread  :hehe:

(I did a few days ago, to actually read the OP's first post and the still on-topic replies. It takes about 50 posts before this thread went wild. I think it had something to do with Jeff and pork chops. I still don't know what that means.)
