Are the posted questions getting worse?

One more reason I'm glad I'm not American...

The difference Gail is if you WERE American (or working here) you'd be getting paid enough that you really wouldn't know or care, you'd have blown up the financial limit on the overtime years ago.

The only thing this really affects are Juniors and people who negotiate poorly.

Overtime is one reason I stay a contractor.

Yup, as a contractor or consultant, this law doesn't really have an effect on senior level DBAs.

I am not a Constitution lawyer, but unless I am mistaken regulating labor relations is not one of the enumerated powers of the fed.

You may be correct, but over the last 70 to 80 years the courts have interpreted the General Welfare clause in the Constitution as if it were a flood gate instead of a very narrow channel.

Same reason here. I would say it this way tho. I charge by the minute (makes them think in a different way). I do 20 hours that's the bill you get. You ask me for 80 hours, that's the bill you get. You ask me for 80 hours for weeks / months on end. Then we start talking about overtime.

My usual deal is I make my own hours (hitting deadlines along the way). Don't bug me when I need to be off and let me make it back at nights and week-ends if need be (no overtime fee since it's 99.9% my choice... when it becomes 99.9% your choice overtime fee kicks in).

Prove the work gets done and you get left alone pretty quick. Doesn't work with everyone but I've had good success over the years with that deal.

Government had for sole mission to handle post letters, military and collect taxes for the EXPORTS of materials outside of the country.

I may be forgeting of the the mandates but that was about it. They had to make a law to meet at least ONCE a YEAR. Why? Because they had nothing to do year round so most people just kept on living their normal lives.

Let's just say that this spirit is LONG dead.

  • Can any one chip in and make this guy feel more at ease, its the old log won't truncate because it thinks its replicating when it isn't issue.

    give up.

Prolonging or repeating yourself doesn't help, and it ultimately clutters the thread up with arguments or nonsense. Ask once, repeat, then move on. You can't help everyone.
