    A valuable lesson indeed 🙂

    It is funny how keyboard shortcuts can baffle people. I was talking someone through writing a query in SSMS and finished with "now hit F5" and they kind of freaked out when the query started running.

    That's one reason I love SQL Prompt, with matched keys. "ssf" for SELECT TOP 10 * FROM for me, also "ct" for create table.

    or "yell":

    /*

    AAAA AAAA AAAA AAAA RRRRR GGGG HH HH ######

    AA AA AA AA AA AA AA AA RR RR GG GG HH HH ######

    AA AA AA AA AA AA AA AA RR RR GG HH HH ####

    AAAAAA AAAAAA AAAAAA AAAAAA RRRRR GG GGG HHHHHH ##

    AA AA AA AA AA AA AA AA RR RR GG GG HH HH

    AA AA AA AA AA AA AA AA RR RR GGG G HH HH ##

    */very handy...:hehe:

    I use "yell" alot at the moment.... I just spent the last two hours chasing down a collection of .ini files that are being used rather than putting the settings that are being read from those .ini files into a nice, conveniently located database table...

    Next step? Redesign them out of existence...

    I had a very yell moment half a day ago, and I've been consigned to the doghouse.

    Back in August I booked flights for me and Ann to get back to the UK for medical checks and stuff; for the last week, I've been telling Ann when she asks me (several times a day) that the flight was at about 8pm, and we'd be through customs at Manchester airport about 1am today. She spent a lot of phone time making arrangements to meet people while we were in the UK, and at lunchtime (about 13:20) opened her diary to enter all the agreed meets - to discover a note that we were taking the 13:15 flight. My name is mud. Even more mud because I booked on a no show no refund basis, and she counts the pennies against me as well as the pain. We will be flying on Saturday instead of yesterday. I may live it down by Christmas, or may not (the latter seems more likely). The only good thing is that I hadn't booked flights back here (because you can never tell how long the medics will take).

    I urgently need advice on how to use dbcc timewarp to make my SQL Server installation warn me yesterday that I was going to screw up so that I didn't.

    Hey, I like the condensed version of The Thread...

    Same here.

    No offense if I forgot anything else. I didn't reread the whole 2 weeks either :hehe:.

    Hmmm, if I knew you were presenting this summary, I would'nt have to go through 100 emails.

    But thanks anyway 🙂

  • Got back from a 2-day event from our local PASS chapter (SQLUG.be).

    My session on SSIS in SQL Server 2012 went amazingly well (the demo gods were apparently very pleased) and I got some great feedback.

    I've got a chance to meet up with some great people of the SQL community, such as Kevin Kline, Mr.Denny, Jennifer Stirrup and Chris Webb (some of them are MCM, so I was quite blinded with their knowledge).

    Hmm?

    I thought not.

    Yes I did!

    Why would you need permission from someone else to do what's right ;-).

  • But this is The Thread. Nothing on The Thread is supposed to make sense!

    It's only 2 pages at 50 posts per page! Much faster that way. 😀
