Are the posted questions getting worse?

No, not that one so much; the search I gave should bring up MERGE bugs on Connect like these:

Just seeing 353 hits is quite scary. I guess now I'll go through them all and see if they are real unfixed problems.

And a good reminder that we can all use a refresher on from time to time.

As others have said, let me know if I cross that line. As "threadizens" we should all let each other know when we cross that line so we can do our best to straighten it out.

Agreed, I've needed it on occasion when I'm not even trying to be that *** just getting frustrated that my point is either being ignored not not even heard. It happens.

Btw, hey, I'm back, I got ran over by the Flu Truck and there's still tread marks. Hopefully your father's doing better Remi, Normal Form will always be an odd duck discussion, I'm just glad people are even teaching it, and my favorite Myth: Jupiter wrote the first database in clay tablets. He didn't, it was Hermes. (Yes, I'm mixing them, 😛 )

The oldest form of data compression there is. Still works too.

Some are. Some aren't. Some are rare edge cases. A few are only on table variables, so haven't bit me yet (since I generally avoid those).

I've been using Merge, albeit not heavily, for quite a while without running into any of these yet.

Congrats Jason for winning T-SQL challenge 63!

    +1, congrats

    Danke

    Herzlichen Glückwunsch! 😛

When did they start to allow solutions other than a single query?

(It's been a while since I decided to no longer participate in those challenges...)

They allowed it for this particular contest due to the nature. 😉

Well they're text files on the drive, so regardless of SQL permissions, anyone with access to that folder can read them that way.

As for via T-SQL, seems to be securityadmin or sysadmin

  • Hey folks, calling in backup on this one, I don't know what else to ask him to try to nail down the cause. It's a text file where the last row will not read into the target table.

Don't know, there seem to be a slight language barrier and that doesn't help!

SET SNARK = ON; -- might be better; or maybe you meant

    SET BOOJUM = OFF; --? 😛

Remi can't count: with one machine showing 20 CPUs and another showing 40 when both should show 80 that's 100 that have softly and silently vanished away, not just 40.

And I can't help - apart from your licensing suggestion I haven't a clue what could be causing it.

Good point. My understanding is that he had issues with only 1 of the servers.:w00t:
