Okay, I'm sorry but that was just gross.

    Happy Halloween :-D:-D

So that is how a brain looks like? I thought is was just some mushy stuff filled to the pack.. πŸ˜€

    I must be color blind.

I thought it was always referred to as gray matter.

It actually is gray, at least removed, maybe not with blood pumping through it. Got to hold one once. Pretty cool.

Congrats to Wayne for winning the TSQL Challenge

    Thanks Jason.

Like I said in my blog[/url], I only submitted the winning entry... SQL Server 2012 is the winner here (or maybe all the folks that will be using it and these features). Check out my blog, and the code from the other submissions to see why.

Yeah yeah - humility only goes so far;-)

You put it together - Good Job.

And that's my point... SQL 2012 made the code so easy, a trained monkey could have done it. Compare the simplicity of the 2012 code to the other code submitted, and you'll see what I mean.

If you can't explain to another person how the code that you're copying from the internet works, then DON'T USE IT on a production system! After all, you will be the one supporting it!

No no no no no - if it doesn't make the bookshelf bend then it isn't worth buying. I haven't yet moved to ebooks (unless it's a free pdf from Redgate or suchlike) because I still haven't found anything that I really like.

The point we're trying to make is that Manning (Deep Dives 2) is not ebook or paper book. It's ebook AND paper book.

For $59.99 you get the paper book (sent to you slowly) and the ebook to start reading immediately. If you buy the book off Amazon you're paying the same and you can only get the ebook after the paper book arrives (there's a code inside)

Oh, I didn't notice that. Thank you very much for pointing that out.

I still have time to cancel my Amazon order...

That's what they told me anyway, I bought my copies in person, so worth checking with Manning first.

Confirmed. I bought my copy from Manning when it still was MEAP and I could download the complete PDF as soon as it was available.

The paper book is still on its way to Italy.

Well, this trained monkey couldn't have put the code together, to start from.

    Congrats, Wayne!

Hey! Don't insult trained monkeys. They've been going to space since 1949. Only in 2012 will a DBA finally be going. :w00t:

  • what do you guys use for calendar apps? (non-iPhoney people) <--hey, that's funny, didn't even mean that...

missed a couple user group meetings I meant to get to (online), would be nice to be able to sync Outlook and phone calendars.

  • I have an Android phone and I use Google Calendar, especially since it integrates well.

Ok, I'm an iPhoney person, but.... I also use google calendar and leaving outlook. I add an event on my iPhone calendar and it ends up on MyPad and also on my desktop (browsed to google calendar). And verse-visa. Aaahhh. It's sweet. Now I can grant permissions to both my wife (at home), and my receptionist (at work) so everyone knows where I am. With outlook, my wife didn't know where I was planning to be.

My failing memory! πŸ˜› The cool part about it is, I don't have to go to so many meetings that way. :hehe:

I've been meaning to post this.

I was in the supermarket the other day and I found that Old Spice is making a deoderant for SQL Server people.

Way cool. I'm giving a presentation next week, now I know what to give out as a door prize.

I use Google Apps + BlackBerry + Outlook + iPad.

Surprisingly enough, they all integrate quite well.

Whenever I set a reminder, I have 3 different alarms chiming at the same time.
