Yay...!!! I beat the THREAD to the landmark. I hit 3000 posts before the thread hit 3000 pages. πŸ™‚

I was going to post a prediction that you'd easily surpass my number of posts before the end of the year, as well. Congratulations, Gail! πŸ™‚

My money's on pass at the latest. πŸ™‚

I had the right date... wrong race & horse:-D.

So I guess I get only 50% of the prize right? πŸ˜€

I like how you spin that. Instead of saying you had one of three right adn should get 33% of the prize, you say you got something right and something wrong, making it binary and increasing your stake to 50%. Sadly for you, it is an AND gate, you get nothing. Fortunaetly for you, the prize was also nothing, so even in losing, you win it all!

There was 300+ values for date.

Only 2 races and 3 horses to chose from. So the date has the greatest value, and by far.

Except you didn't guess a specific date, you said "at the latest". While there's a much larger range after than before, the probability of distant "after" dates is small. Not actually arguing with you about this, I'm just thinking about the best % calculation for this formula.

  • Why is Remi's screen shot showing my numbers up top instead of his?

Or is there something in the code that makes even a screen shot show each user his own ranking there?

EDIT: Nevermind. This is me and my drain bramage. I just realized it was a cut-n-paste from something above those numbers.

Never got to go up and see the 4th of July Fireworks.

That would have been a treat.

I've done that and it wasn't as cool as I thought it would be. We ended up looking down at the fireworks against the ground so there was a lot of background "noise" and were further away than we would have been on the ground. I've only had that one experience though.

I guess they aren't as high as you'd think when you're a kid.

And part of my vision was of seeing them reflecting off a lake.

Land of 10,000 lakes, you can guess where most displays take place.

My unofficial guess was a couple days earlier so I was off by maybe 5 days.

    Happy statistical analysis :-D.

Here's a shot of Steve giving his presentation[/url]. If you look close, you can see his Kilt peeking out from behind the podium. Hope the link works, I got a flickr account just to post this shot.

What did you use to take that picture?

Steve looks like 1 of the aliens in Men In Black! Must have been abducted!

The only thing I had - old iPhone 3G, no focus, no flash.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
