Hey guys I got some really cool news today. I was awarded MVP status!

I just hope I can honor that award the way that all the MVP's on here already do!

You already have! πŸ˜‰ That's why you got the award!

Outstanding news, Jack... Congratulations! It's been a long time coming.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Okay, for $250 - $750 USD I want the following:

Need Software with following modules and features...

If you are willing to to do this, go here.

I can understand it in countries where Developers are paid very low even if they're very good...

That's great news Jack. Do I remember you saying something about not having any chance of being awarded MVP when we met at the SQL Saturday in Boston? Ha! Very pleased to be able to say "told you so" - congratulations!

Ya but even those cost 200$-400$ / month & rising.

Even at 3 months full-time with every module already available, that seems low for training, installation, configuration, customization, etc. Especially with everything done remotely (including meeting and training).

Okay, okay, maybe I underestimated what I've done as far as promoting SQL Server in the community. All I know is that I do it because I enjoy it. Which I know is true for most recognized MVP's and and also for all the unrecognized MVP's out there, like many of the Threadizens.

Congratulations, accolades, Kudos and Milky Way.

(Since this may be a local (US) joke, in addition to meaning "Honor, glory and acclaim", Kudos is also a snack bar[/url], as is the Milky Way).

Any such certification is a clear and absolute minus, because it risks you ending up working for an outfit that regards it as a plus.

If SSC had an 'upvote' feature, I would have clicked it for this πŸ™‚

Really? Can I ask you both why?

  • Congrats, Jack. Hope to see you soon and shake your hand.

Really? Can I ask you both why?

    Yes you can.

  • Database Administrator, or DBA (n): 1. A person responsible for administering software that manages data people don't know what to do with. 2. An expletive used by various departments when they can't get the data they want: "Those DBA's said they can't provide us customer data sorted by creation date because we don't have any date columns of any sort on the table, what the hell do they know?"

    Yes you can.

    Uh! Thank goodness!

    I was afraid he couldn't.
