@CraigDid you hear that Itzik Ben-Gan is teaching an advanced t-sql class here in Phoenix the week after pass? It's really pricey but I got my company to float the bill for me.
*Hyperventalate*... *BOOM*
No, I hadn't. I'll be looking into it immediately... though right now I can't afford the class or time out of work.
What's the link?

Thanks - looks like a good event to attend.
Agreed... just wish I was independently wealthy where I could afford to go... I know work won't pay for it.

(Probably my fault for going political in here. I promise it will never happen again until next time.)
Probably more my fault than yours since I posted my big ole rant and got the pot boiling over...but if you want to take the blame I will let you. :hehe:

I'm trying to figure out if I can beg, borrow or steal (not) my way to IM2 in London next May. Want, but...

It's been very quiet all day. Very low activity and new threads today.
I thought it was some holiday in the US.
Google's 13th birthday, maybe?

Maybe everyone's reading The Thread and not posting. :w00t::-P
Might take awhile for the rest of the site to catch up to this page

Took a bit to read through the discussion and decide if I wanted to go near it with a ten foot pole.
I don't.
On a side note, looks like I may get back into Skydiving next weekend. Woohoo! :w00t:
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

I thought it was a nice civil disagreement/debate. We need more of that in the country. I think avoiding talking about this stuff has gotten us into a bad place. We have to be able to argue and disagree about things without hating each other.
Not that I'm asking for more political debates here, but if it comes up, nothing wrong with a little (meaning short, for Gail's sake), argument.

On a completely unrelated, and sideways note, anyone seen Khan Academy? http://www.khanacademy.org/
Pretty cool. Watched a few basic algebra videos. Might be nice for kids, or even parents trying to help their kids. I might go back through the calculus of prob/stats ones and brush up.

I don't mind political debates, and that was nice and civilised, it just seemed to be getting more into debating the phrasings and language used, and getting nowhere fast.

Anyone want to lend a hand here?
http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1180942-391-1.aspx
I suspect, for good performance, the bit from the full text index needs to go into a temp table directly, no joins, no other filters, then that temp table be used later on.

I'm enjoying some of the iTunesU stuff from the big name universities. An working my way through a course on astrophysics from Yale and then have a 6-part series on logical arguments from Cambridge University. Lots of other stuff, too much to download and definitely too much to easily watch.
