You can get some mileage (but not much) on some Gaelic from Google Translate by telling it it's Irish; but because the Irish turned their spelling inside out a while back quite a lot of Gaelic doesn't look much like what Irish is now.

But anyway I have a simple rule for using Google Translate: don't believe what it tells you.

Oh, I never believe that it's correct - but it gives me a vague idea of one possible translation of what someone is trying to communicate. I never think that it's anything *other* than a vague idea.

I've seen it mistranslate basic things when I already know what the translation is.

Heh, if you want a little fun, take a passage in English, turn it to German. Then go German to Japanese. Then Japanese to English. See what you get. :hehe:

The funniest I ever saw was taking a trite American football saying, turning it to Korean and back again. It was a thing some site was doing as a contest to get the weirdest translation. I'd taken John Madden's idiotic "One knee equals two feet" and got something about marching.

Hmmm...can't be too hard. I've only taken care of the db end of it in the past. I'm sure google my old friend could help 😉

I mucked around in it a little bit when I was administering TFS at my last place. I never did it often enough to be able to tell anyone how to do it without having Sharepoint open in front of me while I did it.

I've found Lynda.com to be very helpful. While I might be able to give you an answer on changing permissions to the calendar, I'd get bogged down on "and stuff like that". : -)

They have videos that show you step by step and they're very clear.

    ...

I did a presentation on SQL plans to our user group. Just the very basics. (Of course I did a big reference to Grants ebook and book). That went pretty good actually. My only concern is that if the questions that arises from the presentation goes pretty deep I am not sure I will be able to answer them with 100% conviction. 🙁

In such cases we all feel a uncomfortable until the moment we realize you don't need to be 100%.

I think no one actually knows it all. Some just know it more than others.

As shown with this followup of a session on DMO by Grant himself:

    http://www.scarydba.com/2011/01/05/encryption-and-the-performance-dmos/

He handled it very smooth, stating he wasn't really sure and promised to search on it and inform the requester later on.

Is you will see, there are many cases, (part) of the answer may come from others in the public.

Still actually doing the followup is really marvelous !

Anybody ever go looking for an answer in the Forums, find the perfectly phrased question for your problem, only to find out it was you who posted it in the first place? (d'oh!)

I was searching the forums for an answer to something a while back, and found a perfectly good answer to my question quite easily. The answer was one I'd posted a couple of years back. Good thing nobody will ever know about that!

By the way, finding answers is much easier when you use the exact same vocabulary and syntax as the author. Makes the search return exactly the right results very easily. How weird is that?
