That's the driver's door. it's a 2-door car.
The panel with the dent is a single piece from driver's door to bumper, right up and over the roof. It's the same place I got hit last time (though a lot less damage this time). I'm hoping they can just beat the damage out, cause if they have to replace the panel it's going to be weeks to source the parts.
At least insurance is covering it all. Other driver's fault, so her insurance pays out completely (and we're both with the same insurance company, which lessens the time involved)
Edit: Oh, and the damage to the other car... Paint transfer and a few scrapes. i could completely fix it with a stiff brush and soap.

Sorry, looking at it through American eyes. I thought that was the passenger side.

Weeks! Ugh. When my fiancee got hit by a bus, the main body panel and both passenger side doors were damaged and the biggest time suck was each door. Ah well, I was hoping it'd make it faster for you.

Those are both good things. Will they cover a rental for you while it is in the shop?

Funny how often it ends up that way.

The car's old, so if they need to source parts, it'll have to be from scrap yards. That's what happened last time, and it took over 3 months to get the car repaired.
Hence I'm hoping they can just beat the damage out, if they can it should be relatively quick.

Lol, no. I wish.
I'll try and arrange things so it's in the panelbeater while I'm in Seattle, then hopefully will be able to borrow my mother's car while she and my father are down on their boat.

Grr. Minor car accident friday, hard drive failure yesterday. Can i send this weekend back for a refund please?Minor accident very minor, it's mostly about the shear inconvenience resulting...
Is the inconvenience worse or more acceptable than the inconvenience of a Hard Drive failure?

The car being mechanical can be repaired. We (I think I speak for most of the denizens of the thread) THANK GOODNESS you were not injured ....

I think the hard drive failure's worse. Cost me most of last night and a good part of this morning and I'm working on my laptop until I can find time to replace it.
Was the boot drive so (with the exception of my iTunes library which I just realised was not in my backups) there's no risk of data loss, but means machine is down until I can get the new drive in and the backup restored

That's the same frustration I imagined it would have been. I hate having a drive go down.

A tortoise could have been going faster than the cars were at time of impact. At a 4-way stop, she started moving before I had cleared the turn. I have no idea what she was looking at at the time, but it was not the road.

I'm seriously contemplating, early next year when I have some spare time again, ripping all the drives out of that machine, replacing them with 2x1.5TB and setting up a RAID 1 array between the two. Or maybe 2x750GB RAID 1 for the OS and 2x1.5TB RAID 1 for data, games, etc.
Will mean a complete reinstall of everything, so will take ages, but will reduce the chances of this happening again. It's not as if drives are particularly expensive anymore.

You want lousy week-end?
Try having 2K+ of unexpected repair on your car, having to lose 1 weeks income + all the trouble to be flooded by Irene while getting corruption on the boot drive of your consult PC.
Wondering was I had been gone all those days? now you know!
Now it's sunny again .

Any chance you bought that pc in the same store as Gail ?
Good to see it's sunny again.
