All the sessions were recorded, they'll be up on the PASS website in a few weeks.

    That's great news Gail!

I'm sure that you'll lose me five seconds into it, but I'll do my best to follow the material.

Mine wasn't particularly deep. I don't know how deep Grant went with his, but I think the most technical parts of our precon are the first two sections - Grant on the query optimiser, me on the plan cache structure, and neither of those were put up for 24hop.

    Mine wasn't terribly deep either.

Gail, Grant, that's good to hear.

So, it'll be suitable for us shallow people? πŸ˜‰

  • Was suitable for me. Who the heck said I was shallow :w00t:.

All the greatest things are based on the best foundations. This is what Grant was teaching. I've not seen Gail's as I was away from the computer (yes that happens sometimes :-P)

It's not for rank beginners, which I'm pretty sure excludes you. I'd say it's mid-ranged, because that's pretty much where I live. I'm not one of those low level, knows the grotty details guys (see Paul for that stuff). There'll be pieces that wash over a few people and pieces that are way too basic. But I think it'll be informative. There's so much to this topic, even seven hours doesn't cover everything that could be covered.

This Gentleman is looking for some ETL best practices and didn't quite get what I was trying to tell him. Perhaps another voice may be able to assist him better.

I put in my 2 cents worth on it.

    Thanks Ninja.

I've never seen Grant 'live' but I've read some of his written material (e.g. his chapters in the Team Based Development book). I like his approach.

When's your book coming out Ninja?

Right after I pre-sell 100 000 copies so that I can take 1-2 years off to write it ;-).

I like my 50 hours / week including commute πŸ™‚

  • Did I miss the memo where September 2k11 is bug month for sql server?

Found another one today where you hit F5 to run a proc, it say Command(s) completed successfully. but the code DID NOT RUN.

Kind of a big issue IMHO.

Plz confirm the behavior on your system so that I can post this on connect.

Or if you know the connect item about this, plz post the link so we can vote it up (I couldn't find anything after 4-5 searches)

Looks like it missed the rear door, which is good. Should lessen the amount of time it takes them to fix it. Good luck!
